Hulu going to start charging money on May 24, 2010

The LA Times newspaper claims Hulu will charge $10 a month starting May 24, 2010. Any truth in this? Also, does it belong in the article?--ILoveSky (T | C) 19:56, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

"Hulu on Game Systems, Other Devices?"

What's in a name?

Hulu Resolution in Web Broswer (on Mac or PC).

The article states in the first paragraph 288p, 360p, and 480p resolutions are offered. I have seen 720p also, it's states HD at the top while playing ("HD" instead of "480p" etc.), 720p is the offered resolution along with 480p, 360p, and 288p. I don't see this very often, but it's there on a few shows.

I don't know why it's not virtually every show, (because virtually every show is produced in HD, 720p or 1080i), possibly because of bandwidth limitations of offering EVERY show in HD simultaneously? If this is the case, then 720p will likely become the norm for a couple of years (before 1080p and up). TV Availability

I noticed in this article that there is no mention of the availability of television shows on the Hulu website. Depending on the show, the availability of full episodes ranges from 3 to 10. It may be helpful for people to know that they cannot watch any episode of any show on the simple version of Hulu. Of course, with Hulu+ one would be able to watch any episode from any season, but may only be able to watch the latest 3 or 4 with the simple Hulu. I am making an edit to the page to reflect this, so people who read the page know they cannot watch every episode for free, but instead must subscribe to see all of the seasons/episodes.68.41.143.27 (talk) 16:19, 17 January 2011 (UTC)MW 1/17/2011

I have had Hulu Plus, it does not allow certain show to be played because of licensing and etc. To be honest many of the show I like watching are not available on H+, therefore after months of promises I dropped the plus and brought PlayOn, and watch the show I can not watch using hulu plus. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.81.44.164 (talk) 21:11, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

proposed addition to features

The following is suggested text to be added, if approved, to the Features section. It briefly describes the feature 'autoplay' and the break timer that I only saw during autoplay.

Autoplay allows the viewer to play videos in queue or play list sequentially without a key-press. The advantage is that if you are playing something in the background, there is no need to manually start the next item. The disadvantage is that the autoplay feature default is 'on' and if you forget to turn it off, it will play continuously until the three hour break timer prevents the next video from loading or, if disabled, the queue or play list is depleted.

Used to be on Hulu outside US

A while ago on the Lonely Island Facebook page they announced the digital shorts would be available on Hulu outside the US and they were- I know because I watched them. Now I tried and they're blocked like everything else on Hulu. What happened? --TheTruthiness (talk) 07:45, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

Availability section needs updating

The most recent information re: international availability of Hulu is nearly 2 years old. It needs to be checked and updated - surely in 2 years we'd be closer to international versions of Hulu being available. Or not. 70.72.197.66 (talk) 21:00, 2 July 2013 (UTC)

Hulu buys rights to international movies, but not shown internationally

It is noteworthy that despite Hulu's very limited viewership and essentially only in the USA, and Hulu's never-ending claim over many years now to be working on making films available internationally, that they have been so aggressive about buying rights to movies all over the world. Many films made in EU that are not shown anywhere. Here in EU, this is serious problem. We can't see movies made here. Anyone able to comment on this? Is it really true that Hulu can buy rights to movies made in EU and has legal reasons it cannot show them in EU? One senses something sinister. Along similar lines, there are public domain movies anyone can view on Youtube and download on Archive.org that Hulu also claims it cannot show internationally. What's going on?

"Original Content" Section Out of Date

A lot of the original content section seems like it hasn't been updated for a long time now. For example : "Some of these programs will start airing in 2012" (italics added). It sounds a couple of years old already. There's probably a lot of additional information that has arisen since then. At the very least, I think the language should be changed to past tense.

• The whole article is very much out of date. It could be seen by some as an indication of how irrelevant, Hulu has become in the face of competing (and internationally available) services like Netflix and iPlayer, but regardless, I think someone in the know needs to give this a top-to-bottom revision to reflect its status as of 2014, not 2012. 68.146.70.124 (talk) 15:13, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

    • Maybe it is a sign of irrelevance. I've been requesting the Availability section be updated now for well over a year (and no, I do not have the resources nor knowledge to do it myself) and still nothing. It's also been quite a while since I've heard of any "Hulu-exclusive" series announcement.       • I stand corrected on one part of what I wrote last week as a Hulu-exclusive Stephen King series has now been announced. But my other points still stand. In fact updating the international availability section is more important than ever as 11/22/63 is likely to increase interest in Hulu, and not just in the US. I have several complaints about Hulu, but it is best to submit them to the Better Business Bureau. The Trojan you may be experiencing is in regard to Hulu and other similar sites trying to read all of your bookmarks. This should be considered a violation of privacy, but...

Alternate distribution

With Hulu announcing original programming, yet still failing to get international coverage, I think it might be worth noting that some shows are being picked up by alternate broadcasters. I don't have the info in front of me, but I do believe it was indicated that the Stephen King series was supposed to be broadcast by someone else in Canada, for example. (Though it sounds like that show might be dead in the water.) This may become more relevant given news today that the just-cancelled Fox series The Mindy Project may be picked up by Hulu.[3] That will be useless to non-American fans but if Hulu cuts a deal with, say, the international version of Netflix, or Crackle or a standard broadcaster, that would be notable. (In any event, if Hulu is successful, this is notable in and of itself as it'll be the first time this platform has continued a network TV series.) 68.146.52.234 (talk) 15:32, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

South Park section notability?

This section just seems like a blurb from the marketing folks. When did WP become a place to advertise features or content. This is one of the reasons why I have lost trust in this site, and why its usefulness has been compromised. If I want to read ads about Hulu, I'd just go to their web site. Canada

I think there needs to be another source for the statement that Canada's online advertising market is too small to support Hulu. The source given is a blog related to anime that tries to justify why a company's anime titles aren't being made available in Canada. If the online advertising market was so small, then why is Crackle able to provide a complete cohort of programming in Canada? Why can most YouTube-original programming be viewed in Canada? Never mind that Netflix is in Canada (albeit a different on in the US). I won't flag it but I'd feel more comfortable if another source was provided. Right now the only source essentially tries to justify why a company is too lazy to arrange for alternative delivery of its programming. Vandalized? Dates have been changed?

I see a ton of dates have been changed to 2006 at some point. Even when talking about today it was changed to 2006. I fixed a few of them but it looks like someone in the past Vandalized the page to say a lot of things happened even before the site was purchased by Hulu. What dose everyone think?
