Why you show the party of the presidents?

Some flags are wrong

[edit]

Weizman, Navon and Rivlin should have the British Mandatory flag against their place of birth (there *was* such a thing) not the Union flag. (Of course, Herzog is correct - he was born in the UK). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.73.228.23 (talk) 23:58, 18 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Vital dates backwards

Why are the vital dates of the presidents arse-about-face? DuncanHill (talk) 13:34, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Move discussion in progress

Issac Herzog party status

[edit]

With regards to the current dispute I am following the 3RR policy to a greater extent and the advice of WP:DRN and writing here.

The editor who I will ping by the name of @Aight 2009: has reverted the article to include the false statement that now president president-elect Herzog is representing the Labor party. This is not true. I tried explaining in the edit summaries that he did not receive the endorsement of the Israeli labor party and did not run as a candidate representing the party. While he has held a number of notable positions in Israeli politics with the backing of the Labor party, president-elect and president are not positions Herzog will hold with the backing of the Israeli Labor party. In addition I mentioned in the edit summary that this is the first election that neither candidate has the backing of any political party. The editor who reverts me claims that "the summary has a position "Political party (at time of appointment)". If infact the summary of the article says the Herzog has been elected with backing from Labor than that needs to be fixed as well.

Here are some sources to back up my claim:

1. Hebrew Wikipedia Page covering the 2021 Elections The article shows in the infobox that neither candidate is representing a party.

2. Hebrew Wikipedia article on the 2014 elections This article shows that the infobox is colored when candidates represent party's.

3. English Wikipedia article covering the 2014 election This also shows that the infobox is colored when candidates represent party's.

4. English wikipeda article covering the 2021 election This articles infobox shows that neither candidate represents a party. A note is included under Herzogs photo (that in my opinion should be removed) that he previously represented the Labor party.

So, @Aight 2009: I am going to ask you to self-revert the latest edit you made or reply on the talk page here in which case I will explain more. If you want, you can add the note that is featured in the 2021 article in English and we can debate over its inclusion at a later date. First an foremost the articles accuracy and truthfulness is the most important to me. Idan (username is Zvikorn) (talk) 10:43, 13 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

My position on party membership is the result that this list has a position "political party at the time of appointment". So If Herzog is member of Labor Party he should be mentioned that he is member of party, there is no position "electoral ticket" or something else. Aight 2009 (talk) 11:02, 13 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Aight 2009, Could you clarify what you mean? I am not completely sure what you mean by: "is the result that this list has a position "political party at the time of appointment"".
In any case, he was previously a member of the Labor party. It is not known weather he still is. However, it is known that he did not run with the backing of the party for the presidency. That is why I am asking you to revert. I stated that you can add the note that is featured in the 2021 article in English. Idan (username is Zvikorn) (talk) 12:26, 13 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you look closer, you will see that the list states: "Political party (at time of appointment)". Aight 2009 (talk) 13:06, 13 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Aight 2009, Ok. I understand what you were referring to.
However, it is still wrong. Just as the 2021 English election article states multiple times: Herzog ran as an independent candidate. The English article and the Hebrew article reflect this. At the time of appointment, Herzog did not represent Labor.
Here is another source stating the same:
https://www.i24news.tv/en/news/israel/politics/1622610196-knesset-to-elect-israel-s-11-president-in-race-between-herzog-peretz
What the article currently says is different from the 2021 election English article and all articles in Hebrew. That is why I am asking you to revert. I stated that you can add the note that is featured in the 2021 article in English that he previously represented the Labor party. Idan (username is Zvikorn) (talk) 14:08, 13 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

President, not Chairman

The Provisional State Council had both a ceremonial President (Weizmann) and a chairman (Yosef Sprinzak, later the 1st speaker of the Knesset) Shacharrz (talk) 09:38, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
