- This is a redirect from a single Unicode character to an article or Wikipedia project page that names the character and describes its usage. For a multiple-character long title with diacritics, use template R from diacritics instead. For more information follow the category link.
This template is used on approximately 31,000 pages and changes may be widely noticed. Test changes in the template's /sandbox or /testcases subpages, or in your own user subpage. Consider discussing changes on the talk page before implementing them. |

Usage
- This redirect category (rcat) template populates Category:Redirects from Unicode characters, and when the redirect is in main-article namespace (mainspace), it is also added to Category:Unprintworthy redirects by default. In 2003, efforts were begun to support the Wikimedia Foundation's goal of increasing access and availability of Wikipedia articles in printed versions. Redirects from Unicode symbols are not suitable for a printed version. In other words they are unprintworthy.
Please do not alter the printworthy settings of this rcat without first notifying the Version 1.0 Editorial Team, who are responsible for any and all materials, including redirects, that go into a printed version of Wikipedia. |
- Add this rcat to a redirect page (not a talk-page redirect) in the following manner:
#REDIRECT (target article title or page name)

- and when the redirect is in article mainspace, printworthiness should also be tagged:
#REDIRECT (target article title or page name)

- Template Rcat shell is an alias for the Redirect category shell template, which may be used to add as many appropriate rcats as needed, usually from one to seven, along with their parameters, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation on its template page. This rcat may also tag a redirect individually:
#REDIRECT (target article title or page name)
R from Unicode
- This is in accord with instructions found at WP:REDCAT.
- Use this rcat to tag any mainspace or project space redirect from a single Unicode character (not including the namespace) to a mainspace article or Wikipedia project page that describes the usage of this symbol. Examples would be monetary symbols like dollar and euro signs, language symbols, daggers, and so on. For a multiple-character-long title with diacritics, use R from diacritics instead.

Usage as a demo template
- This rcat is designed for use on "/doc" (documentation) pages as a demo template. It will not categorize the documentation page nor the other template.
