Killa Malqui (born June 22, 1988) is a Peruvian American activist and Speaker.As the eldest of 3 children, Killa grew up in many locations, including Washington state, Hawaii and Wisconsin, eventually ending up in England, which she now calls home.

Early Life

Killa is a peruvian american activist. Her name means "moon". the daughter of nurse Juana (T) and a fisherman worker father.[1][2] Killa's father is a Peruvian Indigenous activist; born in Peru, He moved to the U.S. at age 18.[3][4][5] Her mother is an American of peruvian descent.[6] They married December 30, 1985.She speaks her native tonge & English and some German.

Killa's paternal grandfather,Alfonso was a member of the leftist party in Peru who married her grandmother Killa Rojas on August 6, 1920, in Ayacucho, Peru [9][10][11] As a child, Killa went with his father and siblings to participate in the Native American events/festivals[12] Today Killa is an active supporter of such Native American causes. Killa's father has been a strong supporter and board member of San Francisco Bay Area's Friendship House Association of American Indians and Native American Health Center for years.[14] Killa has two brothers, David Malqui and Cusi Malqui, who both work as stunt performers. Killa's maternal grandfather was a famous peruvian mountaineer.

When Killa was 11, she and her family moved to Sunderland, England, where her brother Cusi was born. Growing up in Wisconsin, Kilcher was inspired by the local native American culture and started Grass dancing at the age of 6. She also trained in American Indian Dance Festivals as well as ballet.


Activism

Killa has made a commitment to human rights and environmental activism. She speaks on behalf of various causes to achieve what she regards as environmental justice and basic Human Rights. Traveling frequently to speak at youth events, colleges and universities, Killa has been a featured keynote speaker for organizations such as Amnesty International, in collaboration with the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. In July 28, 2008 she visited Lima to support Peru indigenous peoples rights in the Andes Ayacucho, Peru.In addition to public activism, Kilcher is a silent advocate for the environment & global warming organizations.Through her production company, KMY-Films, Kilcher is also producing several cause-driven documentaries and youth-programming projects.
