By all means resume editing political articles when you return, but try to tone down both the inflammatory rhetoric (eg. == Edit war warning ==
Your recent editing history at :Bitcoin Cash shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.<!-- Template:uw-3rr --> Jytdog (talk) 17:53, 5 April 2018 (UTC)
Conflict of interest and advocacy in Wikipedia
Hi Shiftchange. I work on conflict of interest and advocacy issues here in Wikipedia, along with my regular editing Your recent edits at Bitcoin Cash are promotional. It is not clear if you are a fan or might have some conflict of interest - I don't know if you are aware, but we have had so much promotional editing across cryptocurrency articles by people in the online communities that have formed around these currencies, that we have added "holding a cryptocurrency" to the COI guideline, as creating a conflict of interest here in Wikipedia with regard to that cryptocurrency. Folks in those communities, and who hold them, have come to WP in the hopes of promoting them. In case you do have a COI with respect to this currency, I'm giving you notice of our Conflict of Interest guideline and Terms of Use, and will have some comments and requests for you below.
Hello, Shiftchange. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
*avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
* propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the request edit template);
* disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
*avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
*do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. ===Comments and requests===
Wikipedia is a widely-used reference work and managing conflict of interest is essential for ensuring the integrity of Wikipedia and retaining the public's trust in it. Unmanaged conflicts of interest can also lead to people behaving in ways that violate our behavioral policies and cause disruption in the normal editing process. As in academia, COI is managed here in two steps - disclosure and a form of peer review. Please note that there is no bar to being part of the Wikipedia community if you want to be involved in articles where you have a conflict of interest; there are just some things we ask you to do (and if you are paid, some things you need to do).
Disclosure is the most important, and first, step. While I am not asking you to disclose your identity (anonymity is strictly protecting by our WP:OUTING policy) would you please disclose if you have some connection with Bitcoin Cash community, and if you hold this currency? After you respond (and you can just reply below), if it is relevant I can walk you through how the "peer review" part happens. Please reply here, just below, to keep the discussion in one place. You removed an edit on the Redbank Plains State High School Page [1] stating that the edit was unsourced, could you clarify how you feel that the change is unsourced? I included a citation to the novel and the exact page that the edit referred to, which fits the reliable source requirements [2] Is there something else required? — Preceding unsigned comment added by AuthorAhTea (talk • contribs) 23:22, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out)03:09, 16 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Blackheath
Noting that Harry seidler is still needing a citation
And "please be bold and replace the "Citation needed" template with enough information to locate the source."
I would've thought a link to all the pages would be sufficient. Why haven't you been bold and deleted the un-refed paragraph? --Dave Rave (talk) 13:54, 25 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Are you talking about File:Harry_Seidler_with_model.jpg and a request for more information? If you are then I don't have any more information to add. I contacted someone at his firm (18 months later I am not sure exactly who this was) letting them know I was from Wikipedia and they gave me permission to use the image they supplied. If I recall correctly there was a short delay while they contacted the photographer for permission. I just noticed that the summary description includes the name Eric Sierins. His attribution might mean its not a generic link to a website as the source. If someone is going to to delete it because they want better source information and don't have it, then it really isn't anything to do with me. I didn't remove the template because it says only to do so if more information is provided. Why did you choose Blackheath as the title for this? - Shiftchange (talk) 21:59, 25 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
What you provided is a list of web links not a citation. You didn't provide a unique source of information which supports the preceding statement. The claim has been challenged and still requires a reference. - Shiftchange (talk) 00:36, 26 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
a list of links, 9 on the first page, of which anyone of them would have been sufficient for a citation. Instead of doing a little copy editing, you deleted the lot and left the paragraph vulnerable again to citation deletion. Being bold isn't being negative. --Dave Rave (talk) 01:20, 26 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You seem significantly concerned about this to take the time to repeat yourself here but not to add a citation to Blackheath, New South Wales. Your attempt to add a citation was undoubtedly inadequate. If you want to make sure Bradman's achievements on the pitch at Blackheath are not removed from the article then you need to provide a citation to a reliable source which supports the claim. That is what every single other editor is required to do. I add citations on an almost daily basis. In fact for every five main space edits of mine I most probably add at least four references. I would never consider adding a bare url for one and never pretend a google search list result is a citation. Nor would I expect another editor to clean up my sloppy contributions. If you must know, I loathe cricket and have no interest in spending time on the matter. - Shiftchange (talk) 05:30, 26 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, sorry. that article was not meant to exist. I was just testing it in Preview to see how well my automated process was coming along and it seems I accidentally hit Save at some point. It's not yet at a standard to go live so I have blanked it. I have noted the photos you added though for later re-insertion when the article really can go live. Let me know if you see me make any more QHR articles before I've let you know I'm going live with them. Kerry (talk) 20:19, 6 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Conrad Gargett
Hi Shiftchange, I'm Brisarch. Also in Brisbane, and I note you have made some contributions to architecture related articles. Being relatively inexperienced on wikipedia I was wondering if you would mind looking at the Conrad Gargett Riddel Ancher Mortlock Woolley article I created. It has had a "WP:PROMOTION" tag placed on it despite my intended rigor with wikipedia protocols. Main focus of article intended to be notable role/history of firm in Brisbane history. Thanks, Brisarch (talk) 00:55, 19 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your prompt review and comments. I will be sure incorporate your suggestions in future refinement of the article. Brisarch (talk) 02:14, 19 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
My pleasure - still more for city sites and localities to the north of Toowoomba, to be uploaded and added to the pages asap. The Toowoomba run has been successful but I can do better. The auto-focus on the camera isn't getting the best results or else my hands are too shaky. Also since the city was heritage dense and because I had to devote effort to creating new articles for the places we were passing through on the way home I wasn't able to plan a specific route through the inner city, nor read up about each of these sites. If I was more familiar with the sites I would aim for specific features mentioned in the article as well as a general infobox photo. I think Kerry is moving towards Ipswich in the roll-out. Ipwsich is like Toowoomba, a stack of heritage sites near each other. In that case any drive will be passing through places already created so I will not have to do that work. While I enjoy learning about the history of the Darling Downs, sites a closer to home will be significantly more interesting for me to read about. We can them have more photos down the page highlighting architecture and bits and pieces. - Shiftchange (talk) 04:55, 10 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, can you make sure these articles have at a minimum been checked as to whether they're up to date (and preferably have a bit of a lede) before pulling them out of the review category? The Gabbinbar article, amongst other things, currently says it's unoccupied and run-down when a Google search makes clear that it's now a very well maintained function venue. The Drover's Wife (talk) 06:42, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't going to do that. I was just checking that the incorporation of text from the Queensland Heritage Register was done to an acceptable level. - Shiftchange (talk) 07:55, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I think we need to be doing a bit better than this - Kerry is picking up all the basics when she transfers the articles over, and so we can be pretty sure that the basic incorporation of text is going to be fine, but at this point, besides tidying and wikifying the bot text, I see the main point of the review category being to make sure we're not winding up in the long term with a whole bunch of (at times very) outdated articles (which we do have now) - otherwise there's not much point having it. 2010–11 Queensland floods: Difference between revisions
I saw you reverted my edit on 2010–11 Queensland floods. I was surprised to discover I had inserted the word butt for cloud during the edit. I think I know the culprit. I'm using the Chome Cloud-to-butt plugin and it seems to have (not so) helpfully inserted the change. Robert Brockway (talk) 15:52, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Shiftchange. A user whose edits you recently reverted on Bernie Finn has stated on User talk:Dsprc "Please leave my editing of Bernie Finn's page along. As his media adviser, it is my job. I will continue to delete your views and if I am banned I will take it further"
It is all explained by seeing your recent eds, I wondered what the ---- was happening for a moment. There were some very very odd parts to the notifications... so few eds in the last 5 years it is very weird seeing you and rangas editing tassie things, more power to you both! we need more work. beware the trogolodytes. JarrahTree10:33, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Not weird, just unexpected. Most of my editing is now on Queensland-related articles but if I see a major problem or omission elsewhere I will tend to it. Yes, many of the Tasmania articles are rough around the edges. Parliament of Tasmania is particularly poorly but so is the fact that we have a cleanup backlog going back nearly 9 years. - Shiftchange (talk) 19:32, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi shiftchange. Not exactly sure where I am at the moment but I responding (positively) to your modifications to the Popran Valley site. Would appreciate any further help and advice on developing the page. Ad lsm
Hi Shift change. Apologies for adding comments here (again) and aware that it is at the top of your "talk" page. Thanks for your editing and located your query on the extent of the Popran. Will research this. Is this the correct place to contact you re the page? Page looks so much better. .
Brisbane Meetup
Hi there! I'm dropping you this notice as you've indicated on your userpage that you're a Wikipedian in the Brisbane area. Assuming significant interest, I'm organising an event for August 22 at the SLQ Café in South Brisbane, and we'd love for you to come along. A list of people interested in coming, and a discussion space has been created at Wikipedia:Meetup/Brisbane/8. Hope to see you there! It seems Qld has two Mount Archers (as mountains) and two Mount Archers as suburbs/localities. And at the moment they are all somewhat randomly linked by other articles. Should we go with the name Mount Archer, Queensland (Somerset Region) and Mount Archer, Queensland (Rockhampton Region) to adequately disambiguate each pair of locality and mountain? I am not sure we have enough material on any of them to split the locality and mountain at this point. Your thoughts? Kerry (talk) 01:43, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I think I have implemented it and tidied up all the links to point to the correct one, set up a disambig page, etc. Let me know if I've missed something or fix it yourself. Thanks Kerry (talk) 21:57, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I've redeveloped this article by researching it through a newspaper database, and think that the notability criteria are now met. I'd appreciate it if you could please reconsider your vote in the AFD. Regards, Nick-D (talk) 04:09, 29 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Shiftchange, you obviously haven't given the "intricate detail" in the history section of the Winton, Queensland article very much thought. All together, it does paint a very clear picture of a place that not many people in the world are highly likely ever to see, and how it came to be the way it is now. By the way, I spent quite a bit of time and effort trying to plough up from old newspapers in the NLA's Trove any scrap of Winton's history. That wasn't easy, but I wanted to make the town's history as complete as it could be. Now, Winton is quite an historic place for a little town in Central West Queensland. In the early days, when Robert Allen, William Henry Corfield, Robert Fitzmaurice and Thomas Lynett showed up to found the place, the new town's (if it could even have been called one back then) direction was changed by almost every newcomer who showed up. Bear in mind, too, that Winton is a little town even now, and so its history is bound to hinge on events that would seem unimportant to somebody living in a big place like Brisbane. Perhaps you've never lived in a small town? Perhaps if you did, you didn't care much about its history? I can understand that some people might not be interested in Australia's pioneering history, and so it matters little to them that the artesian bore was completed in 1896, but of course, that was a huge event in the town itself, even if it was long ago, far away, and of little consequence to a Canadian on the other side of the world who has never even seen the town (I mean me). What is your reason for believing that the history "may only interest a specific audience"? It's a general history of a little town, about the people, economic activity, politics, events, milestones, disasters, and so on and so on and so on. It doesn't dwell on any particular aspect of Winton's history that would only interest certain readers who wanted to know about the town's past, and it is arranged in straightforward chronological order – I was most careful about that – linked where possible to other events in Australia and the world. The "intricate detail" is what a town's history is all about. I would actually like to expand it, not shrink it, if only I could find out more about Winton's history.
Hi Shiftchange, Thank you for your edits to the Electronic Frontiers Australia page and removal of the primary sources template (which I've been waiting two years for). Many thanks. As I have noted on the talk page, as founder of EFA I have a potential conflict of interest and don't think I can edit the page. However I could provide an extensive set of references from which the page could be expanded to have similar level of detail and content as the Electronic Frontier Foundation page. Meaning of
What's the meaning of , and how does that change when "Start" is replaced by "C", as you just did on Talk:Voter suppression in the United States?
Also, how can I find information on what this means?
Thirdly, what can be done to make it easier to find such information?
I've averaged close to one edit per day since 2010, and I still don't know how to find things like this.
From your contribution history it seems to me you might be interested in this tool for WikiProject-assessing: User:Kephir/gadgets/rater. it might not seem clear
but I was trying to segment big groups of coal mines and coal mining articles across australia
but get held up by dicky computer and a few other things
the reasoning (in case it doesnt show) with text in the main space explaining
is x mines in y state - mines; all other things to do with x mining - mining.
It probably isnt so clear at the moment as i am not even half way through the first few of qld coal mines...
Yeppers. Go for it. Good job. Some mines lack location (or lga or region), establishment year and type (surface mine, undergroup) categories as well. - Shiftchange (talk) 02:29, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
thanks so much for your help - and yes where there is insufficient info re where/etc perhaps that raises other questions as to the veracity of the article... JarrahTree05:52, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Because of global heating all these thermal coal mines are going to have to close much quicker than their mining lifecycle forecast. These stranded assets will create some controversy over the next decade so the importance of these articles will increase. I suspect the coal mine shutdown will occur around 2030. It just disgusts me that the state with the most national parks has the most mines and so much electricity generated by coal and then abominations like the Carmichael coal mine. - Shiftchange (talk) 06:02, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
just as a btw - we have lost some eds in last 18 months or so who were good keeping up with mines and things arts - just simple maintenance and updating of arts seems to be a lost skill in the oz project JarrahTree06:19, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. I see it in the lack of regulars in my watchlist. WikiProject Queensland's cleanup template rate has declined from a rate of 30% to 20%, however that is probably mostly attributed to the WikiProject Queensland's expansion by Kerry's 1,000+ QHR articles. You do know the masses are never coming to help? I think its just a continuation of the decline in WikiProject Australia from its 2007 peak. Its just such a large country with so few editors. Poor governance from Wikimedia Australia doesn't help. Kerry's failed conference may fostered some cohesion but it was rejected. Also the WikiProject activity hasn't distributed to state or city projects as far as I can tell. My watchlist has blown out so I can't keep as good as eye on articles as I used to either. Some tasks can so be time-consuming now so much of the long hanging fruit work is gone. My edit rate is declining on a yearly basis but I ain't going anywhere. How about yourself? As the core group of Australian editors declines from the thousands to the hundreds (or fewer) are you going to be here? - Shiftchange (talk) 07:11, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
for some complex and also simple reasons I cannot reply on wiki adequately - re your comments - but hey I havent gone yet! hang in there!! JarrahTree07:23, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This message contains important information about an administrative situation on Wikipedia. It does not imply any misconduct regarding your own contributions to date.
Please carefully read this information:
The Arbitration Committee has authorised discretionary sanctions to be used for pages regarding all edits about, and all pages related to post-1932 politics of the United States and closely related people, a topic which you have edited. The Committee's decision is here.
Discretionary sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimize disruption to controversial topics. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to the topic that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behavior, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. This message is to notify you that sanctions are authorised for the topic you are editing. Before continuing to edit this topic, please familiarise yourself with the discretionary sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.
Please expound your view of why it is as you put it not an established genre. I have a few references leading to Tropical trance and you tell me it's not an established genre, why? 120.147.37.23 (talk) 04:33, 17 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
As previously you have contributed to Wikipedia in regards to financial articles, would you, please, consider writing an article on Creamfinance? It is a global financial services company that provides personal finance products in emerging markets. The company was ranked as the second fastest-growing company in Europe in 2016. Creamfinance is employing over 220 people and operating in 7 countries both within and outside of Europe – Latvia, Poland, Czech Republic, Georgia, Denmark and Mexico with an IT office in Austria.
I believe it corresponds to the Wikipedia notability rules as it has been talked about in legitimate third party sources:

If you wish I have put together a first draft for the page and can send it you.
According to Wikipedia guidelines I want to underline that I am a Project Manager at Golin Riga and I have been approached by Creamfinance to help with their representation on Wikipedia.
Thank you for the request. I would not be interested in helping you or a financial services company with their "representation on Wikipedia". As others have suggested just draft an article yourself and follow up on the response after creation or submission. - Shiftchange (talk) 00:02, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Fractal-generating software, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Bryce. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

I think you went a bit too far with your cleanup of Bob Katter. I agree the quote about indigenous housing was over-long and the one about the croco-roaches was just plain confusing. But you removed a number of citations as part of the process for what appears to be no reason, leaving some content uncited. And I can't see the reason to remove a number of the smaller quotes which provide more insight into his point of view on a range of topics, egg throwing, family maintenance payments, same sex marriage etc. While I don't personally agree with the language he uses to express this views, I think the reader is entitled to know how he speaks on issues. I think it gives the reader a good insight into Katter when they read quotes about "little slanty-eyed ideologues". Whether the reader will love him or loathe him after reading them is a matter for the reader decide, but let's put the information on the table for the reader, not sanitise it. ArbCom 2017 election voter message
Hello, Shiftchange. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
Have blocked this account for two weeks for the reasons outlined here I admire the zeal for neutrality in political articles, but the community has rightly clear it's tired of the unsupported accusations that accompany it. By all means resume editing political articles when you return, but try to tone down both the inflammatory rhetoric (eg. "propaganda") and the unsupported claims (eg. undisclosed paid editing, sockpuppetry). In passing I don't like templating regulars, but have included the one above because it provides a useful link to appeal options, if required. -- Euryalus (talk) 01:27, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
