Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions, such as the one you made in Preamble to the United States Constitution. I greatly appreciate your efforts to fight vandalism on Wikipedia. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

You are welcome to continue editing articles without logging in, but I highly recommend that you create an account. Doing so is free, requires no personal information, and provides several benefits. If you edit without a username, your IP address (75.69.0.58) is used to identify you instead.

In any case, I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your IP address (or username if you're logged in) and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place {{helpme}} before the question on this page. Again, welcome! SMP0328. Re: Can You? (the other one)

I see what the problem is. There's no citation reference for the 5th Edition Imperial Guard Codex, which I was trying to point to. 76.30.139.214 (talk) 17:35, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You made an edit [1] that included a quote and a reference tag. However the ref tag seems to be an orphan and is causing an error message: Cite Error: Invalid <ref> tag; no text was provided for refs named StephenZunesFPIC.

Stephen Zunes writes that "mainstream and conservative Jewish organizations have mobilized considerable lobbying resources, financial contributions from the Jewish community, and citizen pressure on the news media and other forums of public discourse in support of the Israeli government."<ref name=StephenZunesFPIC/>

I can't seem to find the source of the quote, maybe you can go back and add the full source to the page. Thanks 75.69.0.58 (talk) 00:26, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The original quote comes from the article Israel lobby in the United States#Media and Public Discourse, where it is referenced under [1], although I'm not sure how to make the ref appear properly in the new context. ADM (talk) 04:32, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

And done, I just had to cut & paste the full reference text from Israel lobby in the United States#Media and Public Discourse to Media bias in the United States. 75.69.0.58 (talk) 05:58, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Can you?

Sure thing. :) But not right now. :P Dang, that was a long time ago when I did those edits. :) – J U M P G U R U ask㋐㋜㋗ 22:26, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

Great work cleaning up all those refs on the Irish villages etc. Sarah777 (talk) 18:10, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I came to say pretty much the same thing as Sarah777. Good work. I also wanted to point out that in some cases there is another way to do it. If the same reference already exists in the article you can just change the name of the faulty reference to match the good one. See weather to "climate". Cheers. Enter CambridgeBayWeather, waits for audience applause, not a sausage 09:56, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Right, but that is not the original reference that goes with <ref name=weather>. See the diff 75.69.0.58 (talk) 10:14, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
They are the same link. http://www.climate.weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/climate_normals/results_e.html?Province=BC%20%20&StationName=&SearchType=&LocateBy=Province&Proximity=25&ProximityFrom=City&StationNumber=&IDType=MSC&CityName=&ParkName=&LatitudeDegrees=&LatitudeMinutes=&LongitudeDegrees=&LongitudeMinutes=&NormalsClass=A&SelNormals=&StnId=1413&; is what you added here. If you open up the page for editing and search for the link it appears twice. The first one where you added it and the second one in the climate box. The only difference between them is the way they appear and the access date:
9. Environment Canada, Fort St. John A, British Columbia, Canadian Climate Normals 1971–2000, 1 December 2006.
10. Environment Canada—Canadian Climate Normals 1971–2000, accessed 10 July 2009
Cheers. Enter CambridgeBayWeather, waits for audience applause, not a sausage 13:10, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I didn't notice that. I was just interested in finding the error. 75.69.0.58 (talk) 02:25, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. Try finding duplicates when there are 50+ references. Enter CambridgeBayWeather, waits for audience applause, not a sausage 12:52, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Like everyone else, I say thank you for all your good work on these articles. If you are not already a registered editor here, do think about becoming one. You could always note on your user page that you used to edit under this IP address. Flyer22 (talk) 04:25, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fixing broken references

Hi. You are doing a great job on fixing those broken references!

Fixing broken references used to be a function of AnomieBot. Unfortunately, that bot hasn't been able to do so for two months now, because of technical problems (see here) There used to be some 230 broken references before that problem occured, and I was just about to fix them. When the problems happened, I decided to wait until after it would be solved. That hasn't happened yet. If, when you are done, there will be some broken references left that you couldn't fix, please don't hesitate to tell me. I'll be delighted to help. Debresser (talk) 09:46, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing that out to me. I forgot to bring the whole citation over when i added the text from the 2009 reporter arrests. AniRaptor2001 (talk) 07:56, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for fixing that broken citation in the Man in the Brown Suit article. Good catch that! I noticed the change made by the previous editor to the text, but failed to notice that it wrecked a subsequent footnote. You do such good work, have you considered getting a Wikipedia account all your own? It does not require any personal information, allows you more functionality (e.g., maintaining watch lists), prevents people from tracing you through your IP address, and permits people to know that they are always communicating with the same person since a named account does not change whereas most IP addresses are re-allocated dynamically by Internet Service Providers. Thanks again for fixing that citation! — Spike (talk) 05:26, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page The Great Outdoors has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://fivecomau.weebly.com/ (redirect from http://www.five.com.au) (matching the regex rule \bweebly\.com\b).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 09:28, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make the edit, please ignore this notice.

Thinking about Logging in?

I have noticed that you seem to be making a significant positive contribution to Wikipedia. While you can certainly continue to edit without logging in, I have noticed you have run into some issues with some automated bots and probably with human users as well. As someone who started out editing without an account, if you are thinking about creating an account, I would encourage it. Not only does this give you a number of advantages but it also identifies you to other editors. |► ϋrбanяeneωaℓTALK ◄| 00:01, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to H.A.T.E.U. (mariah carey song), did not appear to be constructive and has been automatically reverted by ClueBot. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you believe there has been a mistake and would like to report a false positive, please report it here and then remove this warning from your talk page. User:Calvin999 created H.A.T.E.U. (mariah carey song) at 17:35, 7 October 2009 and H.A.T.E.U(song) at 11:37, 7 October 2009 with the same content. I replaced the content at H.A.T.E.U. (mariah carey song) with #REDIRECT [[H.A.T.E.U(song)]] {{db-r3}}. This seems to be a situation where a new user created a page with the wrong title and didn't know how to fix it. WP:CFORK I removed the content and turned the page into a redirect. Then since it seemed implausible that any user would reach the redirect page, I nominated it for speedy deletion.

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did to Oliver Lewis. Your edits have been automatically marked as unconstructive/possible vandalism and have been automatically reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you believe there has been a mistake and would like to report a false positive, please report it here and then remove this warning from your talk page. If your edit was not vandalism, please feel free to make your edit again after reporting it. The following is the log entry regarding this warning: Oliver Lewis was changed by 75.69.0.58 (u) (t) deleting 18344 characters on 2009-10-07T21:29:14+00:00 . Thank you. Beginning 17:20, 26 September 2009, User:86.157.123.168 began editing Oliver Lewis, an article about an African-American jockey. At that time the article was 889 bytes. The user began adding hoax content regarding the discography of a British singer. When I found the article it was 19,235 bytes, all of the increase of the size of the article was hoax material. I deleted the hoax content and put a hoax warning on the users page.

Oliver Lewis

It would had been better if you would have mentioned it being hoax in edit summary again after removing the content. Anyway thanks for bringing it to my notice and improving the article. Atif.t2 (talk) 22:06, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jama'at

The article Ahle Sunnat Wal Jama'at has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This seems to be another term for Barelwi. As the Braweli article is far more better sourced and intelligible, this article should be deleted and/or redirected.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

There seems to several atricles with the same content edited and/or created by you. Please use REDIRECTS. Sebastian scha. (talk) 10:52, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rijeka (Town)

Dear 75.69.0.58

I am referring to your message of 30 Aug 2009 at 20:58 UTC.

I've tried to enter source from which I collected data to make the climate table for Rijeka into the Rijeka's page, but it didn't go.

Sources are:

Drzavni hidrometeoroloski zavod

This is the url for October:

http://klima.hr/klima.php?id=mjes&param=

For each month a different page should be opened.

Another source is the book by Ridjanovic and others: Geografija SR Hrvatske 5, Skolska knjiga, Zagreb, 1975, page 84.

I've collected data of medium and extreme monthly temperatures and rainfalls from the web-site, while I took average daily fluctuation of the temperatures by months from the book and then I adjusted highest and lowest temperatures to fit medium temperatures. I am aware this is not the scientific way, however, since temperatures are rounded to degrees Celsius, there cannot be any misrepresentation larger that 1 degree Celsius. I believe that this is satisfactory for Wikipedia.

I am preparing to enter the number of rainy days and snowy days by months in the same unscientific, but generally reliable, way.

Please comment if you find it necessary and feel free to correct my English.

Speedy Deletion Converted to PROD: Enderle's Principle

Hello 75.69.0.58, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I have changed a page you tagged (Enderle's Principle) from being tagged for speedy deletion to being tagged for proposed deletion. The speedy deletion criteria are very narrow to protect the encyclopedia, and do not fit the page in question. Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. Thanks again! Closedmouth (talk) 13:45, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your questioning of removal of ref tags on A Course in Miracles, Revision 19:58 Oct. 14, 2009.

You're right. I think I am putting the cart before the horse. I attempted to revert (my deletion) of all the reference tags on revision 19:58, but they have to be replaced manually because of the other additions and edits I performed during this deletion. My original intention is to restructure the article so that it is not so much focused on the tedium of details of litigiation and distribution, etc., with these being based almost exclusively on court documents as references. However, I agree with you that I perhaps have been overzealous in my intention and should move a bit more methodically. Can you advise how I can put these reference tags back? ThePlanter (talk) 19:39, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I can think of two ways: The first way would be to go back in the history and edit a version of the page before the tags were removed. Save it, making it the current version, and then recreate the edits you made later that you still want to do. The second would be to go back in the history and open, in one tab, a version of the page before the tags were removed. Then open the current version in a new tab. Switching between the two tabs, use the find function, replace the deleted <ref name=> tags. 75.69.0.58 (talk) 20:06, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I will try (the second suggestion, I think). ThePlanter (talk) 20:28, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to the page Collapse of the World Trade Center. Such edits constitute vandalism and are reverted. Please do not continue to make unconstructive edits to pages; use the sandbox for testing. Thank you. Tohd8BohaithuGh1 (t • c • r) 23:05, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My question is, did you read the edit summary I provided or look at the change I made? I restored two references that were removed by an editor who has been warned and blocked for previous edits on Collapse of the World Trade Center. I have now, again, restored the references to the text. 75.69.0.58 (talk) 23:15, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No way, you left me a warning message on my talk page. I protested your warning. You do not get to simply undo the warning with only "Reverted to revision 320080004 by ThePlanter; accident. (TW)" as your edit summary. I want your warning and my response available to anyone who reads this page. 75.69.0.58 (talk) 23:29, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hello IP editor, the user you're talking to has had their 'rollback' rights removed because careless use of the tool caused mistakes. (You can find more details of this on their talkpage.) It is frustrating to have warnings on your talkpage, especially when they're blatantly wrong. Please feel free to remove the warning yourself (you're usually allowed to do this, it shows you've read it) and then link to the thread question that user's use of automated tools. Please please don't let a careless editor get you down. Many people appreciate the work you do, even if they don't turn up to say so. 82.33.48.96 (talk) 17:09, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Vegetarianism

Thanks for fixing the broken citations I added to Vegetarianism. I wouldn't have noticed that! -kotra (talk) 23:59, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

When references are duplicated

I saw this edit by you to the Pandorum article. I just want to point out that when references are duplicated, as is the case with the Box Office Mojo reference in the Pandorum article, the duplications do not need to be fixed to fully resemble the original. Look at how it is formatted, and you will see what I mean. The duplications only need to resemble the original at the front but with the removal of the quotation marks and addition of the / sign at the end. Flyer22 (talk) 00:54, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but I was not fixing duplicated references, I was fixing a broken reference. A previous edit had deleted the full reference, I simply restored it. And changed the rating of the movie from boxofficemojo.com to conform to what the site said. Also, I do not believe that <ref name=> tags actually require use of quotation marks unless there is a space or possibly a ' in the name. 75.69.0.58 (talk) 01:19, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for clarifying; I missed that. And, yes, quotation marks are not required in most instances; when using a name that does not have a website, such as a person's name, though, it does generally seem needed. Flyer22 (talk) 01:26, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is a false positive. As I explained in the edit summary, a previous editor copied the contents of the article back into itself. I was simply repairing the vandalism. 75.69.0.58 (talk) 16:10, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for alerting me to WP:Articles for deletion/Lady Lashes and its associated sockpuppet investigations; I am now much more certain of my ground and do appreciate your assistance. The user I was dealing with on my talk page seems to me not to be a sock, but I am completely unfamiliar with such investigations so have asked another editor to take a hand if he sees fit; you could also as well, if it suits you. I have deleted a bunch of pages, backlinks and a template based on the AfD to which you directed me; again, my thanks for your timely notification. What are you talking about? What edit on what page? When dropping warnings on users you should provide a link to a diff or at least a page name. 75.69.0.58 (talk) 02:23, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You removed a <ref tag on Vatican City. Connormah (talk) 02:26, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
"Yeah, 3 days ago. And if you look at the version immediately before I made my edit you will see a Cite Error in the Infobox at the currency field. I left an edit summary that said (fixed ref error) which is what I did. Congratulations by the way on reintroducing the cite error to the current version of the page. 75.69.0.58 (talk) 02:37, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize if I was misunderstood, please go ahead and re-make the change. Connormah (talk) 02:38, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for fixing that ref tag. My bad. --rannṗáirtí anaiṫnid (coṁrá) 21:27, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is a false positive. A vandal pasted the contents of the article back into itself repeatedly, I was just removing the vandalism. 75.69.0.58 (talk) 17:20, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
