== Sources ==

Hi there. I saw your recent edit to [[Beenzino]] and just wanted to let you know that one of the sourves you used (Allkpop) is considered an unreliable source. I didn't revert your edit as the article already contains multiple unreliabe sources, but please keep this in mind for future edits. There's actually a list of sources relating to articles within WikiProject Korea which you might find helpful, you can find that [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Korea/Reliable sources|''here'']]. If you're not sure on a source, you can always ask other editors on the talk page. Have a good day, [[User:Alexanderlee|Alex]] ([[User talk:Alexanderlee|talk]]) 19:10, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
:@{{u|Alexanderlee}} I've gone ahead and removed the source myself--I don't want to add fuel to the fire. I'm fairly new to editing articles that usually only contain reliable sources not in the English language, so I tried my best to stick to sources not written in Korean. Using Allkpop is perhaps a failed attempt at doing so. At the end of the day I gave up--there really isn't much to see in the English language--and stuck to Korean ones. I suppose that's fine, or does some notation needed to be added that it's not in English? Thanks for the list of sources. '''[[User:Biodev|biodev]]''' 19:16, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
::Sources in other languages are acceptable, you would just need to add the langauge parameter and the language code, which for Korean sources would be <code><nowiki>|lanuage=ko</nowiki></code> (as far as I'm aware, this parameter isn't needed if the source is in English). Hope that helps you! [[User:Alexanderlee|Alex]] ([[User talk:Alexanderlee|talk]]) 19:25, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

New Page Review needs your help

Hi Asoundd,

As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).

Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.

Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.

It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.

(Sent to all active AfC reviewers) MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 16:33, 15 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, WikiPancake. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

New 10,000 Challenge for Canada

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/The 10,000 Challenge is up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge for the UK which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. If you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Canada like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1600 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for Canada but fuelled by a contest such as The North America Destubathon to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. I would like some support from Canadian wikipedians here to get the Challenge off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile! Cheers. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:55, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Editor of the Week seeking nominations (and a new facilitator)

The Editor of the Week initiative has been recognizing editors since 2013 for their hard work and dedication. Editing Wikipedia can be disheartening and tedious at times; the weekly Editor of the Week award lets its recipients know that their positive behaviour and collaborative spirit is appreciated. The response from the honorees has been enthusiastic and thankful.

The list of nominees is running short, and so new nominations are needed for consideration. Have you come across someone in your editing circle who deserves a pat on the back for improving article prose regularly, making it easier to understand? Or perhaps someone has stepped in to mediate a contentious dispute, and did an excellent job. Do you know someone who hasn't received many accolades and is deserving of greater renown? Is there an editor who does lots of little tasks well, such as cleaning up citations?

Please help us thank editors who display sustained patterns of excellence, working tirelessly in the background out of the spotlight, by submitting your nomination for Editor of the Week today!

In addition, the WikiProject is seeking a new facilitator/coordinator to handle the logistics of the award. Please contact L235 if you are interested in helping with the logistics of running the award in any capacity. Remove your name from here to unsubscribe from further EotW-related messages. Thanks, Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 05:19, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Upcoming RRTF roll-call

Hey there, WikiPancake. Just coming by to let you know that RRTF's next roll-call will start on August 1st. As HR Rep, it's your job to run this thing. However, if you're busy, we have a new News Manager (22mikpau) whom you can pass this duty on to if needed. I've mentioned this possibility to them. Please get back to me by July 29 if you are ready to run the roll-call.

If you do want to run it, basically the roll-call will consist of two parts. First, you'll need to start a new section on the forums with a blurb about our past year and a description of the roll-call. You can base it off last year's since it seemed to work well. Then you'll need to inform all our active members about it. I've created a template to assist with this. I'll talk you through it if and when you're ready. You could also reach out to the Inactive or Unknown members, but that's not required. After that, it's mostly hands-off until the end of September when you'll need to move anyone who didn't respond to "inactive".

Please let me know what you're thinking, and happy editing! -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 03:09, 23 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@2ReinreB2: I've pretty much lost all time I was previously able to spend on Wikipedia, thus I'm not sure if I'll be able to spend so much time on this. I can definitely try to help out with this task, although I probably would need some help from other fellow members to finish it. If it seems that I won't be able to do this task by myself, feel free to relieve my duties as the HR Rep. Wish you luck, I'll get started on it as soon as possible. Unless you want to start it out and assign a certain part to me. WikiPancake 🥞 05:18, 26 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Are you just out of time in general, or do you think your schedule will be more free after the summer (i.e. in September when the roll-call finishes up)? If you're free now, I say you can make plans to use my quick template August 1st (that exact day) to message each of the members. If you're free later, you can also plan to do the actual name-moving after we see who's still active. If neither of these sounds like it'll work for you, just let me know. In either case, I will take on the more time-intensive portions like creating the forum post. Think it over, and get back to me by the 29th. Happy editing! -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 02:35, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Adopt-a-user

Hello. This is just a courtesy note to inform you that I have changed your entry at Wikipedia:Adopt-a-user/Adoptee's Area/Adopters as 'unavailable' to adopt. It looks like you've withdrawn from very active editing for now. I'm sure you'd agree it's important not to confuse new editors into thinking more people are available to assist than there actually are. Obviously if you wish to return and assist in the future you are free to change the template back again (or to delete the entry completely, if you wish, thoigh I'll leave it there for now). I wouldn't normally edit another user's page, but I hope you'll consider removing the Adopt-a-User Infobox from there too. (Nifty idea to make it into a template!) Hope your real college world work is going OK. Regards from the UK, Nick Moyes (talk) 02:19, 28 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Removed miszabot config from User talk:Biodev/Userpagearchive

Hi! Just wanted to let you know I removed {{User:MiszaBot/config}} from your talk page archive, because it caused the page to show up in Category:Pages where archive parameter is not a subpage. --rchard2scout (talk) 12:54, 26 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

All good, thanks. - biodev 08:43, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

Hi there. I saw your recent edit to Beenzino and just wanted to let you know that one of the sourves you used (Allkpop) is considered an unreliable source. I didn't revert your edit as the article already contains multiple unreliabe sources, but please keep this in mind for future edits. There's actually a list of sources relating to articles within WikiProject Korea which you might find helpful, you can find that here. If you're not sure on a source, you can always ask other editors on the talk page. Have a good day, Alex (talk) 19:10, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Alexanderlee I've gone ahead and removed the source myself--I don't want to add fuel to the fire. Thanks for the list of sources. biodev 19:16, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sources in other languages are acceptable, you would just need to add the langauge parameter and the language code, which for Korean sources would be |lanuage=ko (as far as I'm aware, this parameter isn't needed if the source is in English). Hope that helps you! Alex (talk) 19:25, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
