ò== Roman empire map ==

Ciao, Andrei. Why has your map of the Roman empire been deleted? It has been removed from my articles e.g. Roman auxiliaries. Salute EraNavigator (talk) 07:01, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ciao, caro Andrei. I thought you weren't going to make any more maps for Wikipedia? Certainly I can help you with the legions. Actually all the information you need is on the table I produced for List of Roman legions. This shows the bases for each legion with dates. But if you need any more info just ask. In fact, I would suggest you make a series of such maps so as to give the changing deployments over time. Say in AD 14 (end of Augustus), 67 (end Julio-Claudians), 125 (Hadrian), 211 (end Septimius Severus). That would show the deployments much more clearly than on the table and the maps could be incorporated into the article. Thanks for the praise of Roman auxiliaries; have you seen my other two big articles on the history of the Roman army? Roman military confederation (the Republican army) and Late Roman army (4th century army)? Also see Battle of Navarino, which I have much improved. Tanti saluti EraNavigator (talk) 21:50, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'll look forward to seeing it. If you need more detail on the deployments than are on the table in List of Roman legions, check out www.livius.org. Vale EraNavigator (talk) 09:55, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you change the colour scheme on the Roman provinces map? I preferred the old one: it was clearer and nicer to look at. Also I am not sure that entering the cities improves the picture, as it overcrowds a small-scale map like this. Also I notice you've slightly changed the date, from 125 to 120. This is unfortunate, as the year 122 saw a lot of legion and auxilia deployment movements, especially into Britain. Is the aim of these changes to avoid copyright violation? If so, it would be better to change some details e.g. the names of the barbarian regions outside the empire. These could be changed to the ethnic name. For example, Sarmatia could be called Sarmatae, which is more accurate anyway, as it was not a clearly defined state, but a series of tribal groups spread over a vast and vague area. Germania Magna should be Germani liberi ("free Germans", i.e. outside the empire), Gaetulia = Numidae. Phazania can be eliminated altogether. As for the date, better to make it 130 than 120. I hope this helps. vale EraNavigator (talk) 09:49, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RomanEmpire 117

Hi, can you please explain how there are temporary conquests on the map that show the empire at its greatest extent in 117? thanks Mallerd (talk) 10:39, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Carta legioni

Ciao, Andrei. Amichevoli saluti. Andrea EraNavigator (talk) 20:34, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Note: The Legion VII, in León, give his name to the city, León (Lion), it`s a deformation of Legio -> León, and not from the animal.

N.B.: Any discrepancy with other sources in figures given above for individual provinces may be due to changes in provincial borders. For the purposes of this table, provincial borders have been assumed the same throughout the period, as at 107 AD.

XRE = Outside Roman Empire
(a) = indicates territory was a Roman client state at the time
(b) = military build-up for Cantabrian Wars
(c) = In 284, there may have been up to seven additional legions in existence, all created in the final 14 years of the Principate (270-84): I Illyricorum, IV Martia, I Isaura Sagittorum, II Isaura, III Isaura, I Armeniaca, II Armeniaca. Our evidence for these is almost entirely limited to the Notitia Dignitatum, a document drawn up in c400. We cannot be sure of their foundation date, and so these units have been excluded from the tabulation. In addition, a legion called VI Hispana is attested by a mid-3rd century inscription: as this is the only evidence for this unit, it is likely that its existence was a brief one in that period.

Ciao. It's a nice map of the Banat. (by the way it's paid not payed: did you pass your English test?). Maybe you should make a business of online mapmaking.

Vale EraNavigator (talk) 19:44, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ciao EraNavigator (talk) 00:57, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Allora, Andrei? T'interessa costruire il sito, sì o no? (e scrivimi in Italiano o Romeno). Saluti EraNavigator (talk) 08:31, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

your maps

Andrei, your maps are very nice, but could you please state the sources you used compiling them (as, I note, you thankfully did already for Image:Map Byzantine Empire 1045.svg, nothing more than that would be required)? I am afraid that without the citation of these, they will not be usable on Wikipedia. --dab (𒁳) 17:38, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

website

Ciao, caro. Riesci a capire niente? Abbracci EraNavigator (talk) 21:30, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, you map is pretty nice. I seen that you now use a yellow + cloud (on each province), this last point is most of time looked as chartjunk, when the yellow is not often use for historical maps. I encourage you to deleted the clouds and to change from yellow to a more historic light brown. Reagards 10:13, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

I finaly made it myself. It's not perfect, but you can see. Free to you to revert me. Yug2 (talk) 10:26, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
