Overview

LockPath is a provider of security management and governance, risk management, and compliance applications. Headquartered in Kansas City, its software aims to simplify risk management and ease regulatory compliance challenges.[1]

History

Governance, risk and compliance (GRC) industry veterans founded LockPath in 2009 to reinvent the governance, risk and compliance (GRC) industry.[2] LockPath is backed by a mix of venture capital and technology executives with operational expertise across enterprise software, cloud computing and security.[3] Founders Chris Caldwell and Chris Goodwin serve as CEO and CTO respectively.[4] Today, the company serves customers across a variety of regulated industries - helping "businesses that range in size from small health care and insurance providers to global manufacturing and banking concerns to comply with the rules specific to their industries."[5]

In 2011, LockPath joined forces with the United Compliance FrameworkTM (UCF) to introduce ComplianceDictionary.com - a searchable online lexicon to standardize compliance terms and governance requirements.[6]

Products

LockPath launched the Keylight platform in October 2010, first delivering Keylight Compliance Manager and Keylight GRC.[7] Today, it provides a range of applications including Business Continuity Manger, Compliance Manager, Incident Manager, Risk Manager, Threat Manager and Vendor Manager.[8]

Offered via on-premise or cloud-based software deployment, LockPath's KeylightTM family of applications helps organizations manage enterprise risks and demonstrate compliance by providing visibility into corporate risk and security controls. The ready-to-use toolset integrates all applications under a single user interface, unifies and correlates any amount of security content, exposes vulnerabilities throughout the organization by tracking and recording key information about secured assets, and creates an iron-clad audit history.[8]

In November 2012, LockPath launched an updated version of the platform with Keylight 3.0 focused on reporting.[9] To simplify compliance for healthcare organizations, LockPath integrated the Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST) common Security Framework (CSF) within Keylight in December 2012.[10]

Research

LockPath conducted a survey in February 2012 of 175 compliance and risk practitioners from across the United States. Its findings suggested a disconnect between the major compliance challenges for organizations and their ability to manage them.[11]

Of the risk and compliance practitioners surveyed, 83.6 percent consider their organization's risk level to be moderate-to-high. Seventy-eight percent say there has been an increase in the regulations they have been forced to comply with over the past year. However, 26 percent of respondents admitted to having no tools or procedures in place to maintain compliance or mitigate risks.[12]

Of the industries represented, healthcare was the most heavily weighed down by heightened risk with 53.3 percent considering their risk level to be high, compared to 16.3 percent of respondents from financial services, 13.3 percent of respondents from utilities and 4.5 percent of respondents from manufacturing companies.[13]
