It helps developers to search for code snippets[29][31] and access relevant documentation,[32] and academic publications.[29] There are several developer-specific tools, such as a code editor and a debugging console,[8] built-in tools to verify JSON files[28][31] and generate color codes in various formats like HEX, RGB, and HSV.[22]

Open Platform

The You.com open-search platform[7] lets external developers and organizations[29] create custom applications[6] called "Search Apps"[7] for the search results page. This benefits both users and developers as it allows users to customize their search experience while helping developers gain exposure and revenue.[33]

You.com currently offers more than 200 first-party apps[18][26] that allow users to find summarized information or complete tasks without leaving the results page.

Users have the ability to positively or negatively influence[34] future rankings of any app by giving a thumbs-up or a thumbs-down,[35][6] and can also block them from appearing in search results altogether.

Privacy

According to its privacy policy,[36] You.com:

  • receives data about its users' usage of its services, like the content they view and the dates and times of their visits.
