The book currently cited is incorrect. The 1940 Census record is correct. Today there are still signs in Rand that read Levi. I was grew up there. - Christina Piper, RBA, BA). Rand is a census-designated place (CDP) on the Kanawha River in Kanawha County, West Virginia, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,631.[2] It is surrounded by the communities of Malden and DuPont City.

The unincorporated community was named after Plus Rand Levi, an early settler. The community was known as Levi prior to 1940. [3][4]

Former NFL wide receiver Randy Moss was raised in Rand.[5][6]
