[edit]Spelling of name
[edit]Can this article be moved to Alexander Mishkin, the more normal Anglicisation of the Russian forename? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 19:29, 15 October 2018 (UTC)
- I think it should be done. Both Bellingcat and BBC (main investigators) name him Alexander--Nicoljaus (talk) 19:56, 15 October 2018 (UTC)
- Does the name in his passport has any bearing on this? Martinevans123 (talk) 09:32, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
- I don't know. I don’t even know if Mishkin had a “travel passport” before he became “Petrov”.--Nicoljaus (talk) 17:49, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
- I thought someone had said somewhere:
"Мишкин Александр Евгеньевич is written in his passport. Александр is Alexander in English. See Alexander Suvorov for example."
? Martinevans123 (talk) 17:52, 18 October 2018 (UTC)- I have no idea what you mean and what you want from me. You understand the difference between two types of passport?--Nicoljaus (talk) 21:55, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
- Well, if Metropolitan Police named him Alexander Petrov, they probably read it from his travel passport. Did they comment on Aleksander Mishkin? Smeagol 17 (talk) 11:42, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
- I mean that you seemed to advance that statement, at Talk:Poisoning of Sergei and Yulia Skripal, as an argument for the change proposed here? I don't "want" anything from you. But feel free to explain the difference for those who may not know. Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 12:11, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
- All I do is answer the questions, but no one explained to me why Alexander was changed to Alexandr in the article without any discussion. And I do not see any progress in this issue for a week. May be we will write the name just how it was given by Bellingcat, BBC and everyone, except Russia Today, and then we will continue the discussion?--Nicoljaus (talk) 13:10, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
- There have been no outright objections, so I propose we go ahead and move it to "Alexander Mishkin". Martinevans123 (talk) 13:20, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
- Done. Now done. Martinevans123 (talk) 17:38, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you very much. Sorry for my impatience.--Nicoljaus (talk) 17:59, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
