Hmmm... This article says that they won World Championship in 1976 and 1984. However at the World Championships page there is only results beginning from 1996, though it's not explicitly stated when was those games played first. Medals section still counts only 1996 onwards. --85.217.15.47 (talk) 13:04, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Black SocksBlack Sox (New Zealand) – The official website uses the name Black Sox, I think the page should be moved to Black Sox (New Zealand) and will do so, In tandem with Talk:New Zealand women's national softball team#Page Move, if there are no objections in 7 days. • Page should be renamed to New Zealand men's national softball team per Wikipedia standard naming conventions for national sports teams. Any other name could confuse readers as to what exactly this page is about. Team nicknames can be noted in the body copy of the article. Ejgreen77 (talk) 18:51, 5 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
If anything, women's softball probably has a much higher profile internationally, as most men in typical baseball/softball-playing countries will play baseball, not softball. I can't speak firsthand for New Zealand, but in my country (the US), men's softball is generally a very, very low-level sport, while women's softball has a much higher level of competition (and a much higher national profile, as well).
