Yellow ribbon

[edit]

What motivated Portugal to introduce a yellow ribbon with first registration date ?

Besides allowing people to show off with new cars ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.69.223.133 (talk) 15:57, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Fraud with 2nd hand imports resold as new(er), because of new registration numbers (and mileage tampering). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.94.48.142 (talk) 02:19, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

MM-##-## license plates

[edit]

MM-##-## plates were also used by the army, for its logistics branch (Manutenção Militar); currently only MX-##-## plates are in use in the army. 95.94.48.142 (talk) 03:01, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Light quadricycles

[edit]

Vehicles which cannot exceed 45 kph have registration plates with the standard Portuguese alphanumeric sequence, but with yellow background. Hizoomi (talk) 20:40, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

K W Y

[edit]

The following statement in the first paragraph of the article should be verified or clarified. As of 2024 the "new system" has run through the initial 'A' sequence and does not appear to include 'AK', 'AW' or 'AY':

"Moreover, the letters W and Y, never before used, and the letter K, used only for a short-lived series for imported vehicles in 1997 (see below), are being employed in the new system"
