- 1942: The Chetnicks start collaborating with Nazi-Germany.
- 1944: The National Liberation Army leads the liberation of Eastern Yugoslavia, supported by the Soviet and Bulgarian armies.

- 1945: A new of government of Yugoslavia is formed by the communists. The National Liberation Army defeats Croatia, the Slovenian Home Guard and the remaining German forces and liberates Yugoslavia. Croatia is reincorporated into Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia is restored. The People's Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina becomes a constituent republic of the federation.
- 1950: An armed uprising in Cazin against the forced collectivization is suppressed.
