It seems you don't understand, let's take an example: Template:Infobox international football competition or 2022 FIFA World Cup. Flag icons should only be inserted in infoboxes in those cases where they convey information in addition to the text, such as the country the team represents or the nationality of players. The country field (host country) already states the country name so a flag icon is unnecessary. Annh07 (talk) 15:40, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Annh07 I quoted from the guideline and it says that the icons can be used, for example, at the FIFA World Cup or the Olympics. The Icons should not be used in the info boxes in particular if too many flags would appear there and this could lead to confusion. This is not the case.
