Miss Universe 2004 article

Pageant Updater, on the MU 2004 page, how did you know the placement of the top 10 and 15?

Please do not revert my talk page

WP:CIVIL Please do not revert my talk page Feedyourfeet 06:10, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please refrain as requested before. To stop reverting my talk page. Feedyourfeet 06:18, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

May i suggest that you please refrain from reverting my talk page. I do not wish to archive. I have not broken any policies. Feedyourfeet 06:25, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there PageantUpdater. How are you? I'm guessing you've had university exams recently so I hope that they went well. I've also tossed my hat in for the Esperanza council as is mentioned in the above update. As for Feedyourfeet's use of his talk page, I actually know of a few high level admins who blank their page at regular intervals (As annoying as it is) so there's nothing you can really do about it. Of course, if he is engaging in selective deletion of non-attack comments which he doesn't like, that may reflect badly on people's perception of his commitment to accountability. Regards, Blnguyen | rant-line 06:39, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not "engaging in selective deletion of non-attack comments which he doesn't like" but i am deleting all bar the ones that i wish to keep. Also PageantUpdater, Why the interest in my talkpage? It's just one out of the many on WP Feedyourfeet 06:46, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I've already commented on my own talk page, but if you blank your talk page selectively, as you are doing ("deleting all bar the ones that i wish to keep" which is the same as "engaging in selective deletion of non-attack comments which he doesn't like") rather than uniform blanking then people will start thinking things.Blnguyen | rant-line 06:52, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Blnguyen, How do you know if i do or do not like them? Also if people want to "Think things" ie make uninformed judgments then that is up to them.

PageantUpdater, I feel that your edit summary is a threat and that is againsnt Wikipedia:No_personal_attacks#Examples_of_personal_attacks

Feedyourfeet 06:59, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PageantUpdater - you need not worry. It clearly is not a personal attack and there is no malice attached. This is from someone who gets told off sometimes for excessively hammering people who DO engage in personal attacks.Blnguyen | rant-line 07:03, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
"Threats of vandalism to userpages or talk pages. May be direct or indirect." Wikipedia:No_personal_attacks#Examples_of_personal_attacks Feedyourfeet 07:11, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That is not vandalism. Vandalism constitutes a bad-faith attempt to damage other people's stuff - PageantUpdater is definitely not acting in bad-faith to harass or denigrate you.Blnguyen | rant-line 07:13, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I would call it harassing. As he says he will keep doing it intill i take on his point of view. Also i would say if he does that by doing that his "suggestion" as he calls it is not helpfull, Which btw is archiving. Not everybody wants to archive for there own reasons and i dont want to be harrassed into doing it. Just becouse people think they do something one way then everybody must do it that way. Feedyourfeet 07:24, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I've already advised her not to bother. I don't she will do it any longer.Blnguyen | rant-line 07:30, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Here's my two cents (since I also reverted the talk page). I left a message regarding a problem of Feedyourfeet adding {{PROD}} with no Edit Summary. That concerned me, as it means an article could be deleted, without the regular editors knowing. Such messages should hang around, at least for a little while, so if the problem repeats, others know the problem happened before. I do think PageantUpdater was justified, and its wildly absurd to bring in the word "vandalism". But, I suppose the issue is small enough (and policy unclear enough) to let the thing drop. --Rob 07:38, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Justified in saying "I wont stop reverting your userpage inless you take my point of view"? I dont think so. Feedyourfeet 08:39, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I asked that you acknowledge my point of view... not take it (as you are claiming). There's a world of difference there. -- PageantUpdatertalk | contribs | esperanza 21:22, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I dont see why the lynch mob about all this. As i have said before if somebody could please back up why i can not do this with wikipedia policy. PageantUpdater, If you wish to comment on my statement then please do. It will not be deleted intil i have responsed to them on your talkpage. Just out of intrest how did you come across my talkpage? Feedyourfeet 09:43, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My comment - you asked me not to revert your talk page -- that is not the same as acknowledging my request for you not to delete messages on your page. I have not reverted your talk page since you acknowledged my request on your talk page.

May i suggest that you please refrain from reverting my talk page. I do not wish to archive. I have not broken any policies. Feedyourfeet 06:25, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My comment - if you check your history (which you seem unwilling to do) you will notice that I simply copied verbatim the edit summary of a previous user who had blanked your page.

I have checked the history, how do you think i know who had been reverting. Your point is true. but becouse you copyed it you should know what it is as wikipedia says to not to sign your name next to things you dont do.

My comment - it is quite obvious (to everyone but you, clearly) that you blank all "neutral" or positive messages, but delete all messages relating to unhelpful behaviour.

i have not blanked any "neutral" or positive messages, in fact as stated on somebody elses talk page i talked how one of the messages left to me that i removed was positive. Feedyourfeet 22:15, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Beauty pageant maps

[edit]

Hi! I made some maps to show the number of titles a country gained in international pageants in the Big Four pageants article. Astrokey44 moved a copy of each map to each of the pageants covered--Miss Universe, World, Earth and International. In addition, since he is quite good at map-making, he also offered to improve the maps in terms of color scheme, as well as including the host cities of all the editions in the map. Hope this helps improve the articles. --Joey80 06:37, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

To Whom It May Concern: I just wanted to point out a couple of errors on the pageant map I saw for Miss USA (color coded by number of wins for each state). 1) Utah should be purple, not blue (2 wins in 1957 & 1960). 2) Alabama should be blue (1 win in 1967). [I'm guessing these 2 were omitted because Linda Bement in 1960 & Sylvia Louise Hitchcock in 1967 both went on to win Miss Universe.] 3) Georgia and Maryland should not be colored in, as neither state has had a pageant winner. Lastly, I think you should somehow show the four titleholders who succeeded our Miss Universe winners: Sylvia Hitchcock '67, Shawn Weatherly '80, Chelsi Smith '95, & Brook Lee '97. In order, they were succeeded by Cheryl Ann Patton (Florida), Jineane Ford (Arizona), Shanna Moakler (New York), & Brandi Sherwood (Idaho). Although they didn't win the title outright, they should be acknowledged as titleholders. Maybe you can put blue diagonal stripes across each of those states, or some sort of blue shading. I verified this info on the Miss USA official site (www.missusa.com). THANX!!! -- Raffy85

IP: 130.216.191.84. -- PageantUpdatertalk | contribs | esperanza 05:46, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK this must be from the second IP sometimes also used by the University (very similar so I didn't recognise the difference) but the same reasoning applies... when I can edit again i will put the same warning message I placed on this page: User talk:130.216.191.184

what was the exact reason you were blocked? (the blocking screen would tell you) ? --LBMixPro<Speak|on|it!> 05:51, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well it wasn't me who was blocked :P The reason was stuffing the AFD Ballot Box :P -- PageantUpdatertalk | contribs | esperanza 05:55, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That isn't what he meant. The IP isn't blocked so the message will tell you who is blocked, "Autoblock because this IP has recently been used by xxxxx...." or something similar. Who was xxxxxx? --pgk(talk) 06:43, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Beleive it or not the IP was blocked by Royboycrash fan for, as I said, "stuffing the AfD ballot box". It doesn't matter to me right now as I'm back home, but hopefully it can be sorted by tomorrow ;) -- PageantUpdatertalk | contribs | esperanza 07:39, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Articles/Pages for Miss Universe 2004-backwards

[edit]

Good day! I want to continue contributing for the beauty pageant title most especially for the Miss Universe pageant, but I have seen, only from Miss Universe 2004 page only exists not 2003 backwards (I hope you got it). And Im willing to contribute information as much as possible but there's a problem. I have a hard time finding information for the pageant 2003-backwards (i.e. the delegates, special awards). Hope you could provide me good sources. Im continuing the page Miss Universe 2004. (By the way, thank you for appreciating my works by giving me the The Barnstar of High Culture :). I really appreciate it) Hedwig0407 28 July 2006

You're doing great :) The best place to find information is Pageant Almanac which has the special awards and semi-finalist lists. As for delegate lists - Miss Universe Crystal Ball has those but it can be tricky because the site has often exceeded its bandwidth. The trick is to use Google's cache - you don't get the images but you do get the delegate names. Here are a few to start you off with if you don't know how to do this: Miss Universe 2003 delegates,Miss Universe 2002 delegates, Miss Universe 2001 delegates. Again, you're always welcome to contact me if you get stuck :) -- PageantUpdatertalk | contribs | esperanza 06:13, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I always stuck at Pageant Almanac, I cant find the link for the Miss Univers 2005-backwards, always the 2006 page. I'll try those sounds really tricky sources that you gave me. Hedwig0407 28 July 2006

Ok, thanks! I use those sources, thanks! Hope my internet connection wont jammed. Ok, concentrating contributing for the Miss Universe pages.. Hedwig0407 28 July 2006

Im Having Problem on Miss Universe 2004 delegates

[edit]

Im currently editing the Miss Universe 2004 delegates and Im having problem with it. It cant display on 3 columns (just like on Miss Universe 2005 and Miss Universe 2006. I've finished putting the delegates' name and when Im previewing it or save the page, it only display in one column though I formatted them for three columns. I cant fix the problem but when I try to find the errors, I cannot find mistakes. Please fix it for me. Hedwig0407 28 July 2006

UPDATE - Dont worry now PageantUpdater, I've seen the code error. (continuing editing Miss Universe 2004). Hedwig0407 28 July 2006

Miss Universe 2003-backwards

[edit]

Good day! I completed the lists of the Miss Universe 2004 delegates and some trivias for it. Now I want to do the Miss Univers 2003 delegates but I cant continue it because it doesnt still have page. Would you mind create the page for Miss Universe 2003? I will be the one writing/typing for the delegates. Thank you! Hedwig0407 29 July 2006

There are several ways to create a link to a new article that doesn't exist yet. You can create a "red link" or do a search and create form there. Take a look at Help:Starting a new page for more. It is as easy as this: Miss Universe 2003. I've created the red link for you. It will turn blue when you add some text and save. --Brian G 13:02, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, I went over to your talk page to post you some more info that I thought may be helpful, but I saw the note to not edit your talk page. I think that you will find that the easiest way to communicate with people is to post messages on each other's pages, so you may wish to reconsider that position. If you made the decision in response to the messages that you have been getting about images, please note that most of these come from automated bots and should not be taken harshly. They are just simple notifications that an image that you uploaded may be subject to deletion and is telling you in the event that you may provide copyright status to allow it to stay on the site. --Brian G 13:12, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I'll edit it. Hedwig0407 30 July 2006

Past and Present Runners-up and Semi-finalists

[edit]

Im just wondering if is it ok to add the runners-up and semi-finalists to the titleholder? If so, where is the best place to put it? Is it on the titleholder's page? Just need a suggestion, again. Hedwig0407 01 August 2006

I thought we'd already had this conversation? It certainly isn't appropriate to put them on the titleholders' pages, but you can create new articles for each pageant if you would like. How to do this is explained by Brian G above... -- PageantUpdatertalk | contribs | esperanza 06:54, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

August Esperanza Newsletter

[edit]
Program Feature: To-Do List
The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential!
What's New?
In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs.
To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Please take your creative minds to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Front page redesign to brainstorm good ideas.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. In order to make sure all users who join Esperanza are welcomed, a list of volunteers who are willing to welcome new Esperanzians is at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Members#Esperanza_welcomers. Please add yourself if you are interested; we want to make sure all new Esperanza members are welcomed!
  2. The In development section of the proposals page has been created.
  3. Proposals page: Some proposals have been moved to the aforementioned "In development" section, some have been left as a proposal, and others have been archived. For those proposals that were a good idea but didn't necessarily constitute a program, General Esperanzial Actions has been created.
  4. Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
  5. Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
  6. There is a page for discussing the front page redesign.

Miss Universe editions main infos

[edit]

Hi! Made an article/table for this. Check it out: List of Miss Universe editions main information. Similar to the winners list which you made, I am intending to just include a partial list (1997-2006) in the main Miss Universe article, however, I am not sure where to include it. Since it is about the pageant per se, I am thinking of inserting the section before the titleholders page, then again, Miss Universe, although it refers to the entire event, is more known to the public for the winners rather than the year, the place, etc. (i.e. you remember this winner, but you don't really care where she won). Hence, I can also place it after the winners list. In any case, I hope you can help me out here. Thanks. =) Joey80 09:00, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I also think that since we included the shortest, and youngest Miss Universe winners, then we should also include the tallest, and oldest winners, so as to give a complete picture in terms of height and age in the trivia section. I included more about this in the Miss Universe discussion page. Since Natalie Glebova was included also in the trivia section as the Miss Universe with the longest reign (418 days, to be exact), I am currently making some computations to determine which winner had the shortest official reign. That "honor" belongs to Miss Universe 1986 Barbara Palacios Teyde (309 days). In the case of those who were not able to finish their reigns (i.e. from their crowning until they crowned their successor), I am currently doing some more research, since although Oxana Fedorova was the first to be officially dethroned, she was not the first to not finish her reign (e.g. Amparo Munoz, and winners in the 1950s who immediately married after their crowning). Joey80 09:10, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I guess it's a good thing that I started a template, or else I (and maybe lots of editors too) wouldn't have known that a Miss Universe 1997 page even exists. Someone already started that 2003 page, but it needs MAJOR cleanup. Also, I finished doing some computations and already had a draft text which can be placed in the article, however, I think it's too long for a trivia entry. Hope ypu can help me out here. Here's the text: Miss Universe 2005 Natalie Glebova enjoys the distinction of having the longest reign among all titleholders, for a total of 418 days, due mostly to the decision of moving the pageant from its regular May schedule to July of the following year. Coincidentally, the winner with the shortest official reign (from the time of her crowning until she passes the title to her successor) was Miss Universe 1986 Barbara Palacios, owing to a reverse of the said schedule, from the then traditional July to May of the following year. Her reign lasted for only 309 days, just one day shorter than the first winner, Armi Kuusela’s, who decided to end her reign early and get married. However, taking into consideration such exceptional circumstances, the winner with the shortest reign was 2002’s Oxana Fedorova, who was dethroned just 116 days into her reign. I think that through the last statement, this point can actually make a smooth transition to another entry in the trivia, that about Oxana being the only one to be officially dethroned (or incorporating this here). Also, I would have added somewhere along the last sentence that because Oxana was officially dethroned and a successor was elected in her place, the two would consequently share a reign which is regularly held by one winner, hence, the Oxana and her successor, Justine Pasek (reigned for 253) have the shortest reigns among the titleholders. I thought that adding this statement to the entire entry would make it something of a run-off sentence because it's too long, then again, the trivia entry about Oxana's dethronement mentions Justine as her successor, so it wouldn't hurt incorporating that entry into this one. Joey80 07:29, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
As for the tallest Miss Universe, I still firmly stand by my pick (2003 winner Amelia Vega). For the oldest winner, I had a difficult time finding their birthdates (especially the winners of the first several decades), or even the age when they won. With the exception of two winners, I had some information for the winners from 1968 onward. And so far, the oldest winner among them is 1997's Brook Lee, who was 26 years and over 4 months old when she won, followed by her successor, Wendy Fitzwilliam, who was 25 years and over 7 months old. Since I couldn't find any info about the other winners, maybe we can just based the justification from the age limit (though I am not sure about the age limit before). But based on the official website, they made changes to the age limit around 1993 (I am betting that they just changed the maximum, while the minimum is still 18--e.g. remember Peru's winner who had problems when she won it because she was below the minimum age then), so we just need to find out the maximum age then. Currently, the upper age limit is "below 27", or 26, which means that in all likelihood, Brook Lee is indeed the oldest winner.Joey80 07:46, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! Just thinking if it won't be an overkill if we added another article listing concerning the Special Awards winners (Miss Photogenic--with footnote that starting this year, winners are chosen by Internet vote; Miss Congeniality; National Costumes, Style Award, etc.). In other words, this article will contain all existing and defunct special awards. Then again, such can also just be individually included in each edition page. University of Auckland block

[edit]

There's a reason the following text appears automatically on the talk pages for IP users:

This is the discussion page for an anonymous user, identified by the user's numerical IP address. Some IP addresses change periodically, and may be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user and feel that irrelevant comments have been directed at you, please create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users.

Please don't take comments left on the IP talk page personally, you should know better. The comment was directed at a very particular vandal who has been abusing University of Auckland computers, and more or less doing his best to make sure they get blocked. This is why I blocked the address for anonymous edits only; this was intentional, luck had nothing to do with it. A registered user like yourself can still use the same computers to edit. There have been cases in the past in which a student at a particular university has become such an odious vandal, that the university was "collectively punished" with a block; sometimes this is exactly what the vandal was trying to achieve (see, for example, user:woggly/Bar-Ilan vandal). That is why I used the new blocking feature which allows blocking unregistered users only, while legitimate registered users like yourself should not be affected by the block. I am not the only administrator who holds that requiring editors from a certain IP to register is a fair price to pay for a massive reduction in vandalism (see [1]). In the case of Auckland University, the bad apple is a vandal who has nicknamed himself "Loserdick", you can read about him here: Wikipedia:Long term abuse/Loserdick. He alone brought on the block of two U of Auckland IPs. If you yourself are affiliated with Auckland University, you can help by bringing the matter to the attention of University officials; there have been precedents for universities taking disciplinary action against students who repeatedly used university computers to vandalise Wikipedia. Also, if you can explain to me how you or any other legitimate registered user is being prevented from contributing to Wikipedia by the block, I will undo it. I have no intention of tolerating the death threats, impersonation, foul language and disruption for disruption's sake that has issued from the "Loserdick" vandal, for the benefit of hypothetical unregistered users. --woggly 21:50, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

About Tabulating the performance

[edit]

Good day again! May I ask if I may make a kind of tabulation (including the percentage) of the country's performance in the Miss Universe specifically the countries that make in the top ten, then six/five and then the runner's up just like what you did in the Miss Universe page (here what I mean -> click me!). Hedwig0407 (talk · contribs) August 27, 2006

I also want to make some kind of trivia for those countries on when they sent their first delegates, when they didnt sent their delegates and so on, all in my own work. What can you say?

If both above is possible, where can I put it? Hedwig0407 (talk · contribs) August 27, 2006

Hi! Just would like to inform you that the naming conventions would be better addressed by Hedwig. I didn't do anything concerning those, my main focus are the maps and the linking of some country names to the national pageants instead (and also the updates of some flags). As for any other information, I leave those to other editors to address. Joey80 08:12, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Naming Conventions in Miss Universe

[edit]

Good day! I know about Wikipedia's naming conventions. As of now, Im burying myself to complete the Miss Universe pages (as if it has a deadline). If you have time, you could change long names. But I can correct those names, but it is after I finish all the pages. And it is true, it is very hard job doing the delegates name. There was a time (well most of the times), I could feel my eyes hurting because of looking in the monitor. I'm like you too, Im an Internet Addict too. Anyway goodluck to us. Hedwig0407 (talk · contribs) August 26, 2006

Good day again! I just want you to know that I will stop for a while completing the Miss Universe pages (I stop at the year 1982) because I am going to correct the names which has 4+ names. Thank you! :) Hedwig0407 (talk · contribs) August 29, 2006

Thanks but leave it to me that. Thank you! Hedwig0407 (talk · contribs) August 29, 2006

That's what I'm saying. But he/she still wants a source. Most of these info were from the specials saying what they are doing now. But he/she still wants a source. If you go to a supermodel's page like Naomi Campbell, you don't see people asking for citation on she modeled for Vogue, Elle,etc..But this guys has a problem with it. I even gave links to the agencies, where the model is signed, yet he/she keeps removing it. Lil Flip246 21:01, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

LilFlip's deliberately false sources

[edit]

If you admit that you haven't checked the sources, why are you restoring them?? The source links do NOT contain the information they are supposedly backing up. Furthermore, you are restoring images that are illegally uploaded to Wikipedia and are scheduled for deletion in a few days anyway. Click the images and see for yourself. I didn't remove the ones that were tagless. wikipediatrix 21:09, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Further info for you:

[edit]

It's disturbing that you note "I totally agree with where you're coming from" on LilFlip's talk page, because several other editors (including Admins) have already set her straight on this matter. If you continue to restore her edits and defend her edit-warring, reversion of unsourced information about living persons, and deliberately placing false source citations, then you are as guilty of POV-pushing vandalism as she. If the reversions of unsourced claims, false sources, copyright-violating text and copyright-violating images continue, I will have to alert the RfC board. wikipediatrix 21:18, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lol I actually find this quite funny. The totally agree where you coming from was related to the message she left on my talk page... I didn't read the rest of the stuff on her talk page. I'm not restoring her edits per se... I would restore anyone's edits where that much stuff is being deleted. I have not placed any source citations. I would invite you to alert the RfC board because I think what you're doing and these accusations are ludicrous! -- PageantUpdatertalk | contribs | esperanza 21:42, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome :)

Anytime! - GIen 01:44, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wait, you live at Metropolis?? OMG, I just sold my apartment there last year! I lived in and owned Penthouse 3105 for about 18 months, and before that 1608 for 12 months, live in Takapuna now. Small world!!! - GIen 01:52, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ah no? Where did you get that impression from? *rubs head*... What have I done???!!! *lol* -- PageantUpdatertalk | contribs | esperanza 01:57, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You don't? Okay? I thought I read it here; User_talk:Hamedog#Super_14_Final_Reference... - my bad! Sorry! :) - GIen 02:15, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Lol that's taking it literally! I was using "metropolis" instead of "city"... from memory I was being somewhat sarcastic???!! Not really sure! -- PageantUpdatertalk | contribs | esperanza 02:22, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I feel like a dunce! ;) Well, on that note I'll leave you in peace; there's only a couple of admins from NZ so if you need anything be sure to give me a yell - I gotta be good for something! :) 02:43, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Small world

[edit]

I've only just moved here, but did spend some time living here a decade or so ago. Lifes changes bring me back for another go at it. I'm looking into your other issues on deletion now. Allow me some time to absorb the complaint and I'll reply shortly. -- Longhair 11:08, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've had time to read over several articles, talk pages, and also viewed many edits in relation to this issue. I feel User:Lil Flip246 has been given fair advice on adding references and citing sources, and perhaps it did become a little heavy handed when it appeared repeated requests by several editors to provide reliable sources were being ignored. I've also noted that rather than assuming good faith, Lil Flip246 did become a little argumentative when it appeared nobody was listening to her. Please be aware that the onus to provide references and sources for contributions rests solely with those adding the information, and any editor is permitted to remove any unsourced material at any time. Biographies of living persons are somewhat stricter with the requirement of sourced material, so it's best to include references where possible when editing articles within this category. That said, it's been noted you've been actively referencing material as advised to myself by other editors involved in the dispute. Perhaps you could take Lil Flip246 under your wing and share some of your editing knowledge to allow him/her to gain a better understanding of what Wikipedia requires? I trust you fully understand the dangers surrounding unsourced contributions when it comes to living people. The Wikimedia Foundation must enforce strict rules for articles of this kind to avoid legal consequences of the worst kind. I hope this helps. -- Longhair 13:50, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

September Esperanza Newsletter

[edit]
Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Hi there. If she is notable, as you assert in the Medford, Oregon article, can you please write an article on her as I suggested in my edit summary when I removed her? Thanks! Katr67 01:17, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, thanks for your reply. Beauty pageants aren't my thing, but I can appreciate the passion and effort you are putting into the subject. I'll leave the redlink alone for now, who knows, maybe I'll get around to it one of these days. Happy editing! Katr67 01:29, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Melrose Bickerstaff

[edit]

This wasn't showing up in the log, so I moved it to today (in case it was a transclusion limit), but it still didn't work. I eventually found it there was a newline character between "Melrose" and "Bickerstaff", so it is now fixed but on the log for today rather than yesterday. Hope that is OK. Yomanganitalk 00:20, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for fixing it - its probably better that it goes in todays list anyway :) -- PageantUpdatertalk | contribs | esperanza 01:05, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
