The school opened in 1963 with the first graduating class in 1965.[2] Prior to opening, students in Rancho Cordova attended Folsom High School.

editAs of the 2022–23 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,931 students and 96.10 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 20.09.[1] Seventeen percent of Cordova High students are involved in special education, twenty-one percent qualify for English language learner support, and seventy-one percent qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.[3]
