Based on the Allegations of antisemitism section it appears to be according to The Independent,[1] as well as Columbia’s President,[2] The NYT reference states "Columbia officials have previously said there have been several antisemitic incidents on campus", but this isn't doesn't appear to be related to the protests, so will update sources based on content wording. Important to note that Columbia officials have a conflict of interest and their statements should not be said in WP voice; also I am sure there's at least on RS that gave their own assessment whether this was true or misleading. Makeandtoss (talk) 15:39, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Columbia Antisemitism Panel

I've checked this article for information on the recent placement of three administrators on leave over antisemitic text messages during an antisemitism panel (New York Times). NYPD date incorrect

According to the article introduction,

The first encampment was dismantled when university president Minouche Shafik authorized the New York City Police Department (NYPD) to enter the campus on April 17 and conduct mass arrests.

The NYPD entrance and arrests took place on April 18, not April 17. This is indeed confirmed later in the article:

On April 17,[...] The next day, the Shafik-authorized New York City Police Department Strategic Response Group entered the encampment to arrest protesters as Columbia University employees cleared the tents.

Hi! Please remove the following sentence, as it is a misparaphrasing: "Deputy Editor Noah Bernstein of the Columbia Daily Spectator said that outside media coverage was generally slanted against the protesters." The quote was given in response to a question about "what is happening on campus." It was not given in specific reference to pro-Palestinian protests, as its placement on the "2024 Columbia University pro-Palestinian campus occupations" Wikipedia page suggests, or pro-Israel protests, for that matter. @User17903 reading the source, I don't see the problem with the statement. The article opens with More than 100 protestors were arrested in an April 18 police sweep of the “Gaza Solidarity Encampment” on the Columbia University and the entire article is talking about these specific protests, so it seems clear that he is referring to them as such. Note how he adds [...] more intense tilt on the negative elements of the demonstrations. – Isochrone (talk) 13:17, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
