Marker Enzyme?

edit

Hello all, Marker enzyme redirects here, I may be wrong but I think they are two slightly different things, as a definition of a marker enzyme is:

An enzyme that is used to identify a specific cell type, cell organelle, or cell component.

example has nothing to do with biomarkers (as it is currently written)

edit

The example of flecainide and encainide in the 'Potential disadvantage' section does not clearly explain anything about biomarkers. The example does not explain the effect of flecainide and encainide on biomarkers and heart disease. Rather, the example given is more of a warning against using 'newer' drugs since the side effects may be devastating. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.227.2.252 (talk) 01:37, 15 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Types of biomarkers

edit

Just made a change clarifying the difference between predictive, prognostic, and diagnostic biomarkers as it was not very well specified before. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.225.244.179 (talk) 21:17, 1 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Needs more details

edit

Regarding to the article, it can be clearly seen that how biomarkers have been used since long time and improved based on different medical procedures. The classification section of biomarkers is not fully complete it must be provided by more details about specific types and functions for each marker. Also, I think the discovery of molecular biomarkers part is not related to the topic. Overall, the information about the link between biomarkers and diseases was clear and how that help for diagnosis and treatment, it covers most of the disease related and drug related biomarker. Biomarker (cell)

edit

What is the difference between this article and Biomarker (cell)? — fnielsen (talk) 20:09, 6 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Should they be merged? — fnielsen (talk) 20:09, 6 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Probably. I will look through the histories of the two pages to see if some rationale for separating them was discussed in the past - sometimes that happens and then articles drift back to cover the same topic again... Jytdog (talk) 20:20, 6 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Biomarker List

edit

There are thousands of known biomarkers for the most minute physiological conditions. Does it really make sense to have a list that will either be totally non-exhaustive or incredibly long? --Solobear89 (talk) 21:43, 24 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

It seems like there is a lot of overlap between Biomarker (cell) and Biomarker (medicine), such that it would likely serve our readers better by having the content combined in a single place, rather than those reaching Biomarker (disambiguation) needing to decide which article has the most pertinent information. The articles also are not currently linked to each other. The related article at Biomarker can continue to stand on its own as a broad concept article. Biomarker (cell) doesn't even currently link to this general article. A merge would resolve a lot of these problems. Mdewman6 (talk) 21:29, 25 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
