Merge with Frottage
editLooks very simiral to Frottage (art). Merge? --Vanuan (talk) 11:19, 8 January 2017 (UTC)
Requested move 27 March 2023
edit- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: moved. Consensus that the artistic technique is not the primary topic. The title Rubbing is retargeted to point to Rub; I also recommend further discussion on whether to merge this article into Frottage (art). Rubbing → Rubbing (art) – Definitely a bit WP:ASTONISHED to see this as primary topic, ahead of Rubbing (friction) and others at the dabpage Rub. There's also a suggestion above to merge this stub into Frottage (art) which I think has merit. Recommend to move the article, and retarget Rubbing to the dabpage. 162 etc. (talk) 00:14, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
- Support per nomination. The stub under main title header Rubbing is an unlikely WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for such a common English term. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 06:52, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
- Weak support Abrasion (mechanical) has more views (1,279) than this one (822)[[1]] but the mechanical meaning has different names. Crouch, Swale (talk) 15:59, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
- Support per nom. There are too many other potential meanings of "rubbing" for there to be a primary topic. BD2412 T 02:19, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
- Support per nom. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 07:01, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
- Support move and merge but at 'Rubbing (art)' rather than at Frottage (art)—blindlynx 21:42, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
Merger proposal
editPer RM above. This page and Frottage (art) overlap, between the two 'Rubbing' is the common name so they should be merged here—blindlynx 19:18, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- Support merging Frottage (art) into Rubbing (art), which encompasses use of the artistic technique to create works of art as well as works of record. (A coin rubbing illustrates that article.) — WFinch (talk) 11:40, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
- Merger complete. Klbrain (talk) 12:55, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
