In one scene in the film, Lars watches the video for [[Madonna (entertainer)|Madonna]]'s "[[Justify My Love]]", which at the time had been banned from [[MTV]]. Lars then holds up a the cover of a pornographic film called "[[Swedish]] [[Erotica]]" and jokes: "It's Madonna's new image! 'Madonna Erotica!'" Ironically, in 1992, the same year this documentary was released, Madonna released her ''[[Erotica (Madonna album)|Erotica]]'' album.
