The Banning Dam is a 122-year-old dam in Westlake Village, California. Located just a few hundred feet east of Lake Sherwood,[1] the structure is located within the Lake Eleanor Open Space. Named for its builder, "Captain" William Banning, the dam was completed in 1889 and creates Lake Eleanor, not to be confused with Yosemite's Lake Eleanor (though both exist due to damming).
