The Banning Dam is a 122-year-old dam in Westlake Village, California. Built less than a mile east of Lake Sherwood[1] (albeit fifteen years older than the Sherwood Dam), the structure is located within the Lake Eleanor Open Space. Named for its builder, "Captain" William Banning, the dam was completed in 1889 and creates Lake Eleanor, not to be confused with Yosemite's Lake Eleanor (though both are manmade).
