The Household Cavalry Regiment (HCR) is an Armoured Cavalry regiment of the British Army based in Bulford Camp in Wiltshire. It is the brother regiment of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment (HCMR) based at Hyde Park Barracks in London - both regiments together form the Household Cavalry (HCav). The Household Cavalry Regiment was formed in 1992, under the Options for Change reforms, by the union of The Life Guards and The Blues and Royals in order to preserve the distinct identities of the regiments. A precedent for the Household Cavalry Regiment has previously been set by the Household Cavalry Composite Regiment - active during the Anglo-Egyptian War, the Second Boer War and latterly during both the First and Second World Wars. The Household Cavalry have partaken in frontline dutys since they was first created. Modern day roles consist of deep reconnaissance working up to 30 kilometres head of infantry units working alone as a crew of 3 in a the new armoured vehicle called AJAX and another vehicle called ARES where its a crew of 6. The modern Cavalry are the tip of the spear when it comes to combat as a regiment proving there skills in both dismounted operation and mounted. A Household Cavalry soldier is broadened in skills as they can both do infantry and other combat roles as well as advance roles such as logistics and communication and demolitions.

The HCR is part of the [[Household Cavalry]], rather than the [[Royal Armoured Corps]] (RAC), which encompasses all other armoured and cavalry regiments of the British Army.
