Ohlmeyer was appointed [[Erasmus Smith's Professor of Modern History]] at [[Trinity College Dublin]] in 2003. In 2015 Ohlmeyer was appointed Chair of the [[Irish Research Council]]. The Irish Research Council (IRC) awards competitive funding on the basis of research excellence.
