Oreus

Oreus (Ὼρεός Ōreós, modern transliteration: Oreos) was an ancient town in northern Euboea. Its nearby river was Callias and the Telethrion (Telethrium) mountains. Homer descrinbed the city in his Iliad, also Scylax mentioned as one of the four main cities of Euboea and Demosthenes describes its conquest by Philip II of Macedon in the Third Philippic. Pliny the Elder mentioned the town as abandoned, while Claudius Ptolemaeus mentioned the city as Soreos.

It belonged to Histieotis which covered northern Euboea, it belonged to the Athenian deme of Histiaea
