Background

On 25 July 2015, Sivan announced his fourth extended play at VidCon and described it as an "opening installment, a 6 song keyhole to introduce you guys to all of the music I've got coming in 2015."[2]

Music videos

The EP will be accompanied by three music videos following the storyline of two male childhood friends involved in a romantic relationship. Sivan dubs the videos under the umbrella term Blue Neighbourhood, after a lyric from the lead single "Wild", and describes it as a "trilogy of music videos that accompany Wild, and is very close to my heart."[3]

The Wild (Blue Neighbourhood Part 1/3) music video debut on YouTube/VEVO on 3 September 2015 and has ranked in 4.2 million views as of 21 September 2015.[4] Troye Sivan also released six lyric videos from Wild. On 11 September 2015, the Wild lyric video was uploaded on VEVO. Two days after the first lyric video was uploaded, the lyric video for BITE was released on his VEVO channel. The lyric videos for FOOLS, EASE (ft. Broods), THE QUIET and DKLA (ft. Tkay Maidza) were each released two days after the previous lyric videos.[5] On 22 September 2015, Sivan released a 42 second teaser trailer revealing the official release date for FOOLS (Blue Neighbourhood Part 2/3), scheduled to be released on 25 September 2015.[6] On 25 September 2015, Blue Neighbourhood Part 2/3, titled "FOOLS" was uploaded to Sivan's VEVO channel with a teaser of Blue Neighbourhood Part 3/3 during the final moments of the video.[7]It is rumoured that during the final moments of the second part of the Blue Neighbourhood trilogy, a new song by Sivan, titled "Talk Me Down" is the next video in the 'Blue Neighbourhood' Trilogy. On 20 October 2015, in partner with VEVO and GLAAD, Sivan will host a Blue Neighbourhood movie event at the Hollywood Cemetery at 7p.m., with the video to be uploaded the following night.

Commercial performance

Wild debuted at number five in the United States, selling 50,000 units (45,000 total album sales).[8] Wild has sold 80,000 units Worldwide, as of Sept 21st, 2015.[9] Meanwhile, in his home country of Australia, Wild debuts at number one, and became the first EP (Extended Play) to debut on the chart, let alone reach the top of the Australian Albums chart, as most EP’s are four track sets which enter over on the singles chart, where plenty of EP’s have previously gone to No.1, but this is the first for the albums chart. The EP also debuted in the Top 10 of 7 Countries in the World.[10]
