The Wild Mercury Sound was born in September 2007<ref>www.profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=266180143</ref>, with the desire to make guitar music which will mean something to people.
They are based in London, and are aged between 16 and 17 years old. They are well-known on the London and Oxford club scene with their numerous live performances.
