Despite that, the article almost was kept as is. That's because there was no consensus about the article's fate, and typically [[Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Administrator instructions\|no consensus ~~reverts~~is functionally equivalent to "keep."]] Fortunately the closer, recognizing that possibility, decided on merging it, which was roughly equivalent of deletion. But a different closer might have abided rigidly by the AfD rules, and kept an article about something that a crime family that ''did not actually exist.''
