Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Hillel the Elder. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Repeated vandalism may result in the loss of editing privileges. Thank you. GordonGlottal (talk) 23:22, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
- The Golden Rule states: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." The Silver Rule states: "Do not do unto others as you would not have them do unto you." Hillel's saying, "What is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow", is therefore an instance of the Silver Rule, not the Golden Rule. Cf. Confucius' saying that "What you do not wish for yourself, do not do to others", which is also regarded as an instance of the Silver Rule.
- That is all. There is no attempt at vandalism here, just an honest attempt to improve the article and make it more factual. If you agree with the above, feel free to incorporate it into Hillel the Elder in a way that you deem acceptable. If not, I won't press the issue.
- For future reference, here is a link to the edit in question.
This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
