For the past few weeks I've been working on Draft:Timeline of the Canterbury earthquakes. It currently has 270 sources, which is my biggest project by far, and it'll probably be months until it's finished. I keep noticing that you'd taken a lot of photos about the topic (this one blew my mind and is my favourite), so you might be interested in helping out. Haha, have you see the other Rolleston statue photo? It's quite funny. Not sure what my favourite earthquake photo is. It's either River Road or Fitzgerald Avenue. There certainly wasn't a lack of interesting things to photograph, that's for sure. What I've got on at the moment is a draft that I should really finish and another draft that's been sitting there for a while. But I might focus on a few things Olympic Games for the time being. After the Olympics are over and the two drafts are published, I may well want to lend a hand.

In terms of my own big projects, I once came across Living Australian knights and dames (36 of them) and thought we should have the equivalent article for New Zealand. Little did I know that our list is a tad longer (and Paora keeps it up to date – thank you). And List of New Zealand rowers at the Summer Olympics turned out to be quite the exercise, and that one is in need of getting another update. And the List of chairpersons of district health boards saw me trawl through 20 years' worth of press releases before I had nailed that one; I'm reasonably confident that it's complete. Yup I've seen that picture and had a laugh. The time capsule under another statue was an interesting read. Oh yes, I quite enjoy looking at road damage too. I've always wanted to stand in the cracks.

That amalgamations draft must be really difficult to find sources for, and the chairpersons one must've been especially difficult due to how unbelievably boring press releases can be. Well done. I once saw a YouTube video of kids building wee ramps and jumping over the cracks in Fitzgerald Ave on their skateboards. One of them hit a wee pebble, which stopped the skateboard dead and the kid went head-first into the gap and was swallowed up. Those cracks were impressively wide and deep (1.5 m deep easily). I think I have three large boxes with press clippings (all nicely labelled with date and page number, etc) that I can go through one day. That's an absolute goldmine, given that so much of The Press content has disappeared from their website. Schwede66 11:24, 24 June 2024 (UTC)

Speaking of The Press, have you noticed a discrepancy between its printed articles and the ones on Stuff/ThePress.co.nz? In making that timeline I had come across several citations on Wikipedia that I was not able to verify. At first I thought it was an error from a Wikipedia editor, but it's happened so much that I think it might be the source. Yes, there is a discrepancy. Sometimes it's one day (i.e. when they publish online the day prior to the story appearing in print). Sometimes it's a completely different date, and that's caused by a website upgrade where dates got mangled (in that case, I think the date as it now appears online is always the first of the month, but that may not always be the case). I've had a look on ProQuest (via my Wikipedia Libray login and if you don't know what that is, I recommend you should look into it) and cannot find an "anti-climax" article that relates to New Regent Street. I'd nuke the comment, to be honest. Schwede66 01:33, 25 June 2024 (UTC)

It looks like my suspicions were correct. On Central City Red Zone there is an invisible comment stating, "Note that the 858 days detail is only shown in the printed version of The Press". ―Panamitsu (talk) 07:52, 7 July 2024 (UTC)

National Memorials (New_Zealand)#International National Memorials

Thanks for reminding me to copy the VRT ticket from the original to File:Pascal Maynard in The Mythic Store (cropped).jpg, you were quite right, I've reviewed enough licenses and even gotten enough VRT permissions that oversight was a bit embarrassing. As a token gratitude, I added a few pics and other descriptions to National Memorials (New_Zealand)#International National Memorials, which was rather empty before. Hope you like. None are images I took or found myself, they were all already in Commons. Unfortunately, France and South Korea don't have Freedom of Panorama, and I couldn't find any free pics of the Majorca cemetery, so couldn't get the others. Oh, I did not know that, Smasongarrison. I've used Cat-a-lot a lot on Commons, but never on WP. Has anyone suggested to the developers to look into this so that the tool does not run counter to the manual of style? Schwede66 01:35, 4 July 2024 (UTC)

Question; citation tool for dyk prospect

Hi. I'm nearly done with what I think would be a very interesting article for a DYK, but the citation tool has been down for days. Any suggestions? The draft is Draft:Adam Maraana. Nice to hear from you. There's an outstanding item for you at Template:Did you know nominations/Shachar Sagiv that you may have forgotten about.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by citation tool. I have a link to "Expand citations" (add the page name to the URL for the page you want to run this tool) in my toolbar and I've run it just now and it does appear to work. It's done most of them. I suspect you use the visual editor. I don't, hence I can't offer any advice in relation to that. I'm old-school and use the "Source editor". Within that, there is a citation interface and it gives you templates where you fill in the fields that you've got, resulting in formatted citations. Help:Referencing for beginners#RefToolbar has a cool video that explains how you use it. It's quite straightforward once you've got your head around it.

Given that you are using quite a few sources that are non-English, it would be cool if you could use additional parameters when you do not use a Latin-based script for the title of the source. It's explained under Template:Cite web#Title. The language code to use for Hebrew is 'he'. Schwede66 01:43, 8 July 2024 (UTC)

As to the tool, the one that I had in mind - unlike the one you just suggested (citation bot-I had tried it but it does not do much of the work the other tool does), provides a fulsome result. It is on the draft page. Under editor resources — Advanced: Fix bare URLs.
