So no need for a note on it. It's a false belief that the circumflex is intended to indicate a lost consonant (such as "s"). Rather, lost consonants often lengthened vowels and that's why the circumflex is used with them. But any vowel that was long in Early Modern French may be indicated with a circumflex, regardless of why it was long. undo
