Deal with long processing time #563

Hello everybody,
I have a problem that I don't know how to deal with and I would like to ask you for advice.

I have a page whose processing times are longer than expected and therefore I would like to put a "waiting message" of this type:

  import justpy as jp
  import time
  
  def test():
    wp = wp = jp.QuasarPage(tailwind = True)
    
    div = jp.Div(classes="h-screen grid bg-neutral-500", a=wp)
    container = jp.Div(classes="grid bg-neutral-200 w-1/3 h-1/3 place-self-center", a=div)
    wait = jp.QSpinner(spinner_type='infinity',size="15em",a=container, classes="place-self-center", color="grey-10")
    message = jp.Div(classes="place-self-center", a=container, text='Processing...')
    
    #for simulate a long process
    time.sleep(5)
    
    message.text = "Completed!"
    wait.show = False
    
    return wp

  jp.justpy(test)

But only the message after waiting is displayed.

What approach can I take to solve?

Is it possible to manage everything within the same function?

If I understand the problem correctly, then perhaps the page_ready event could be useful here: https://justpy.io/tutorial/page_events/

I think you have to wait until a websocket connection is established for the page, such as after a button is clicked.

The code below works:

import justpy as jp
import time

async def lengthy_task(c, ev):
    time.sleep(3)
    p1=ev.page
    p1.d.text="Done"
    jp.run_task(p1.update())

def p1():
    wp = jp.WebPage()
    jp.Button(text="Click me",  a=wp)
    wp.d = jp.Div(text="please wait...", a=wp)
    return wp

jp.justpy(p1)

Here is a better solution:

from justpy import justpy, WebPage, P, run_task
from asyncio import sleep

def p1():
  wp=WebPage()
  wp.p=P(text="Hi", a=wp)
  async def f1():
    await sleep(5)
    wp.p.text="changed"
    await wp.update()
  run_task(f1())
  return wp

WebPage.tailwind=False
justpy(p1)
