The Kali operating system comes with an installation of Nikto.

Because Kali follows an RFC for software installation locations which differs from Nikto's default application folder method, I do not support issues with Nikto on Kali unless it is downloaded from GitHub and installed manually. The first step for any troubleshooting on Kali should be to reinstall as described. Additionally, the Kali version of Nikto is generally behind the GitHub version.
