Hi

Not using cocoa pods and having trouble with the SDKs using WKWebKit, I'd like to download the last SDK before the switch which seems to be Google Mobile Ads SDK V7.53.1, so is it possible to get a download link to that version, please?

Thanks

Kenneth

Hi Kenneth,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

You may get the v7.53.1 version of the AdMob iOS SDK here.

Hi

Sorry for not being clear but what I really needed was the bundle which includes all the dependencies like AppMeasurements and so on.

Thanks

Hi Kenneth,

Thank you for clarifying your concern.

After checking, I'm afraid that there aren't any available links for the previous non-CocoaPods bundles anymore. However, I can create a feature request for this if you could kindly elaborate on why you would want a copy of a pre-UIWebView AdMob SDK (given that Apple has stopped accepting submissions for apps still using UIWebView), and if you could provide additional details on what you might want to see for this request.

Yes, the problem is that Admob with WKWebkit is running even while the app being in the background and users of my app are complaining about battery drain and hours of background usage even if the app is only used for a couple of minutes per day as indicated when going into the iPhone battery setting. After being alerted by users I can see this for my self. The problem is described in another thread "Banner ad prevents app from backgrounding" by Carlos Hwa.

Hi

Can I use this SDK together with the others in the latest bundle?

Hi Kenneth,

I work with Ziv and will try to assist you. I tried 2 projects - one with 7.53.1 and one with 7.61.0 (the latest). When I used pods to install them I saw that the frameworks that were installed were the same except for the Mobile Ads SDK.

This using of the old SDK will be rejected by Apple because Apple rejects any app that uses UIWebView, and version 7.53.1 uses UIWebView. We and many other app developers are hoping that Apple fixes this bug that doesn't turn off the app in the background very soon. Here are pages that discuss this issue: Kind regards,
Aryeh Baker

Thanks!

I'll give it a try then, maybe the restriction is only for new apps, and right now I only need to update my existing apps.

Hi Kenneth,

According to this article from Apple - https://developer.apple.com/news/?id=12232019b it may work to update an app While still using UIWebView. There's no guarantee from that article though that if you already upgraded they'll take a downgrade. If this works for you, you may want to post that here for the benefit of other publishers.

Kind regards
