This page enables stewards to handle permissions requests, including the giving and taking of administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights, for all Wikimedia wikis which do not have a local permissions procedure. 'If your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (see the index of request pages). Requests for bot status, URL blacklisting and whitelisting, and CheckUser queries belong elsewhere.

For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewards IRC channel (see a web-based IRC client). In emergencies only, type !steward in the channel to inform stewards that you need help.

Please only make requests here after gaining the approval of your local community.

When requesting permissions, copy and paste the following text into the correct section. Please fill in all the required fields -- language code, link to the local request, and link to your local user page. Without this information, a steward cannot process your request.

Requests

Administrator access

See administrator for information about the position. Requests for temporary permissions and removal of access belong in other sections.

English Wikispecies

I request sysop access.

Thank you. Pikminlover

Not done No local request page, no community support shown (and user made only a single edit to his userpage on that wiki). drini [es:] [commons:] 21:22, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I added the correct link, and note no request was made there. Effeietsanders 16:52, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tetum Wikipedia

I request sysop access.

Thank you. MF-Warburg 14:03, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see any approval from the local community on this page. guillom 14:10, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Swahili Wiktionary

I request sysop access.

There is no local sysop: Dubaduba hasn't been seen for a while ;-). Need to monitor for spam like the w/index.php stuff we are getting another round of. I could do some interface translation as well; I live in Nairobi; I'm not fluent in Swahili, but my house runs on it (I have a two-year old nephew that speaks Swahili better than I ...) Robert Ullmann 12:43, 24 January 2007 (UTC) (en.wikt sysop, rw.wikt sysop)[reply]

Done (after fixing your links to local pages). Approved for three months, prior to that, try to grow the project and get a community consensus to continue. Bastique 15:27, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry about the links, missed that. Okay, but there is no one else here ;-). By all means if I can gin up some interest. Tx, Robert Ullmann 15:52, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bureaucrat access

See bureaucrat for information about the position.

Urdu Wiktionary, Wikiquote, Wikibooks

I request for bureaucrat access for all sister projects of wikipedia. Or at least sysop status for these projects.

before making any objection please keep in mind that I was the 1st bureaucrat and 2nd sysop at Urdu wikipedia with now more then 3000 edits [1]

Thank you. Wisesabre 08:46, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now. 1) You posted on all three projects today. You would need to wait about 7 days (unless the community has a different timeframe agreed upon for this); 2) community approval for your access (even if by means of lack of opposition) needs to be decided on each local project. Please do not ask any of the communities to post any opposition here on Meta. This is not the place for any given community to discuss whether or not you should be granted the access. Please reformulate your posts on all three projects, wait the 7 days, and we will see what happens. Thank you. Redux 12:59, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to add to that that you should place your request on a place where the community can find it. And maybe it would be good to have the poll as well in urdu, i dont know how many of them speak english? But use an existing community page if no admin-page exists yet. (you created the page once at least yourself, what is imho not the way to go. ) Effeietsanders 14:07, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have now rewrote my request on all 3 projects, asking them to give me votes there. With Support/Oppose sub headings. Plus I have placed a notice on community portal of each project. Up till now all contributers of urdu wikipedia can speak/understand english. Wisesabre 06:33, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It might be me, but if i check "what links here" I see no links to the wiktionary nor to the wikiquote page which are relevant to this. :S Effeietsanders 16:28, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you were right. Fixed incorrect links.Wisesabre 05:21, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

CheckUser access

To request CheckUser information, see Request for CheckUser information. This is the place to request CheckUser access. Note that temporary CheckUser access is not permitted.

Stewards: When someone asks for CheckUser status, please check the current policy regarding bestowal of status before giving the status. Breaching these rules may be cause for removing your steward access. When you give someone CheckUser, please list them on CheckUser, ask them to subscribe to checkuser-l, and email checkuser-l-owner@wikipedia.org so that the listadmins know the person is allowed on the mailing list (the list may contain confidential information).

Oversight access

Do not initiate an oversight request here. The Arbitration Committee will make the request once there is consensus on the local wiki (this process is currently for en-Wikipedia only).

Stewards: When you give someone oversight access, list them on Hiding revisions.

no current requests.

Removal of access

You may request that your own access be removed here; stewards will grant such requests immediately if you provide proof that you are the same user on meta as on your local wiki. This may be accomplished most easily by placing a note in English on your local talk page confirming your request.

To request the removal of another user's status, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. All discussion must be kept on your local wiki. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, a trusted person from that wiki should provide a link here to the discussion, a very brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion.

Czech Wikipedia

I request sysop access removal.

Please provide proof that it is actually the sysop requesting the removal of access. (That can be done by a diff proving you are the same person in which you state it is indeed your wish) Effeietsanders 21:18, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ripuarian Wikipedia

I request sysop and bureaucrat access removal.

Emergency: voting procedures not followed, insufficient community support.
bureaucrat promoted his closed group.--Peterretep 00:41, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Could you give more details? Please point to the procedures, and where the voting page was located. I don't see the sysops using their rights right now, so there is no big emergency. I will ask Duuvelskaal to respond here and maybe explain. Effeietsanders 07:56, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for asking me! User:Peterretep does not exist in the ripuarian wikipedia, so I wonder who this is. Actually, a vote is running here to remove admin rights from ksh:user:Purodha, who is the only admin apart from the five listed above. I have been administrator with Purodha right from the start of the ksh-wikipedia. You already noticed the page where four of the five users listed above were voted as admins (here) with 1:0 vote. The only contra vote stemmed from a user with no previous article edits (ksh:user:De Klütteboor) and was not counted. Purodha or other users did not protest. And after the vote was finished, a new user appeared and voted contra (ksh:user:Satansbraten). Actually, Purodha has previously been accused of using sockpuppets, but due to my lack of technical knowledge, I am not able to find out if that is true. Temporary permissions for emergency or technical purposes

If you are requesting administrator status to make a translation of the wiki interface, see also the BetaWiki project, which seeks to make a neutral MediaWiki translation that will then be default for all wikis. That is more useful than only making a local translation. You can ask questions in the IRC channel or in the mailing list. See also MediaWiki localisation.

Stewards: Currently active temporary permissions are listed at /Approved temporary. When granting a request, please copy the request to the appropriate section there, and clearly state the date of removal.

User rename requests

If your project has a bureaucrat, contact that user to request a username change; do not place a request here.

no current requests.

Miscellaneous requests

Requests that don't fit in other sections belong here. Note that the following types of requests belong on separate pages: bot status, URL blacklisting and whitelisting, and requests for CheckUser queries.
