Craig Smith may refer to:

Craig Smith (born 26 February 1973) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer of the 1990s.

Biography

The Melbourne Storm leading point-scorer in the club’s debut year (110 points) had to sit on the sidelines for much of 1999 due to the good form of Matt Geyer. Smith trained in Melbourne but flew back to Brisbane on weekends to play with the Storms’ feeder club, Brisbane Norths, in the Queensland Cup competition.

Smith was re-instated on the wing before the 1999 semi-final series when coach Chris Anderson dropped his son Ben and moved Geyer to five-eighth. Anderson also made Smith the primary goal-kicker. Smith’s boot proved the difference in three sudden-death victories, culminating in his three goals and penalty try from the wing in the 1999 NRL grand final.

Smith rejected Melbourne’s offer for the 2000 NRL season and retired.

Craig Smith (born September 5, 1989) is an American ice hockey player who is currently playing for the Nashville Predators in the NHL. He was selected by the Nashville Predators in the 4th round (98th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Playing career

Smith played major junior hockey in the United States Hockey League with the Waterloo Black Hawks. He was named to the USHL First All-Star Team for the 2008–09 season.

Smith participated at the 2011 IIHF World Championship as a member of the United States men's national ice hockey team.

After coming out of college early, Smith became the first player since Colin Wilson to make the Predators without first playing for the Milwaukee Admirals. On October 7, 2011, Smith scored his first NHL goal in his first NHL game against Steve Mason of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Following the 2014–15 NHL season Smith became a restricted free agent under the NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Nashville Predators made him a qualifying offer to retain his NHL rights and, on July 5, 2015, Smith filed for Salary Arbitration.

Craig Smith is an American college basketball coach, currently the head coach for the University of South Dakota. Smith is a member of Tim Miles' coaching tree, having served as an assistant for Miles at four schools – Mayville State, North Dakota State, Colorado State and Nebraska. Along with his long association with Miles, Smith was a highly-successful head coach at Mayville State from 2004 to 2007. His teams went 72–29 and in 2007 he was named the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division II Coach of the Year.

Achievements

In 2007, led 13th seeded Mayville State to the championship game of the NAIA tournament and won NAIA coach of the year honors.

Craig Smith (January 31, 1947 – November 14, 2007) was an American conductor who is considered a seminal figure in Boston's Baroque music revival of the 1970s and 1980s. In subsequent years he became increasingly known as an international conductor. At the beginning of his career, in 1970, he founded Emmanuel Music, a widely recognized organization that continues to focus on performances of the works of Johann Sebastian Bach.

Biography

Born in Lewiston, Idaho, Smith began studying the piano at the age of four. His mother was a teacher and his father a carpenter. Although neither of his parents were working musicians, they constantly encouraged their children's musical education. For Craig that meant flute lessons in addition to the piano. With his parents and his brother Kent he traveled frequently throughout the Northwest to concerts as he was growing up. In high school, Smith was active in musical ensembles including the band and several choirs.

In 1965 Smith entered Washington State University, where he was first exposed to the production side of opera. He was, as he wrote at the time, hooked. After attending a 1967 summer program organized by the New England Conservatory (NEC), Smith moved to Boston, where he had been accepted for matriculation at the conservatory. He was mentored there in chamber music studies by the pianist Russell Sherman and violinist Rudolf Kolisch.

Craig Smith (born November 10, 1983) is an American professional basketball player. He recently played for Ironi Nes Ziona of the Israeli Basketball Premier League. After playing at Boston College from 2002–2006, he was selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2006 NBA draft.

High school and college

Smith attended Worcester Academy, a preparatory school in Worcester, Massachusetts, for a year as a post-graduate student before college. He went on to score 2,349 points in his collegiate career, placing him second on Boston College's career scoring list (behind Troy Bell). In his senior season, he had per-game averages of 17.6 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.8 blocked shots.

Professional career

Smith was selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the 36th overall pick in the 2006 NBA draft. On August 30, 2006, he signed a multi-year deal with the Timberwolves.

Smith averaged 7.4 points and 5.1 rebounds in his rookie year (2006–07) with the Timberwolves. He earned a starting role for the last five games of the season and averaged 12.0 points and 10.2 rebounds while logging an average 34.4 minutes. He had an increased role in the 2007–08 season after a strong rookie performance and a Vegas Summer League performance during which he averaged 21.8 points and 6.0 rebounds. On December 11, 2007, Smith scored 36 points in an 88–102 loss to the Washington Wizards, logging 38 minutes and making 14 of his 22 field goal attempts. On July 17, 2008, he re-signed with the Timberwolves on a multi-year deal.
