Midway Mall is an indoor shopping center located in Elyria, Ohio approximately 25 miles (40 km) southwest of Cleveland, and the only mall located in Lorain County, Ohio. It is located on the east side of Route 57 between I-90 to the north of I-80. Midway Mall is anchored by JC Penney, Sears, Macy's, also features Best Buy which can be accessed from within the mall.
History
The mall was originally opened in 1965 with Higbee's, JCPenney, Sears, and Woolworth's . In 1990, a new food court, and a wing with May Company opened. In 1992, Higbee's became Dillard's and the May Company adopted the Kaufmann's name in 1993, before becoming Macy's in 2006. In 1994 Woolworth's closed. After many years of ownership by the Jacobs Group of Cleveland, Midway Mall was sold to The Westfield Group in the 2001 as part of the Jacobs Group's divestitures, adopting the name Westfield Midway during Westfield's ownership. Westfield later announced in spring 2006, that the mall didn't fulfill their "strategic plan". In May 2006 the Westfield Group sold Midway Mall to Centro Properties Group, at which point it reverted to its original name Midway Mall.
The Midway Mall, located in the city of Natal, is the largest shopping center in the state of Rio Grande do Norte and one of the largest in the Northeast Region. It has a floor space of 231 acres (930,000 m2) distributed over three levels. The mall offers 300 shops, among them 13 anchor stores and seven satellite cinema multiplex network Cinemark stadiums with a capacity of 2,140 seats. The six-level parking garage accommodates 3,500 vehicles. The property belongs to the Guararapes Group, which also owns the network of department stores Riachuelo.
