Trudie Styler
Trudie Styler (born 6 January 1954) is an English actress, film producer and director. She is the wife of the musician Sting.
Early life
Trudie Styler was born in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, England. When Styler was 2 years old, she was hit by a van. She received severe facial injuries that left her badly scarred and required several plastic surgery operations up until the age of 18. Her classmates nicknamed her "scarface", which caused her to feel for many years that she was "not a very attractive person".
Career and marriage
Styler trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and went on to star in various period BBC productions. She joined the Royal Shakespeare Company, where she would meet rock musician Sting through Frances Tomelty, his then-wife and fellow cast member in a production of Shakespeare's MacBeth. Sting began to date Styler, divorcing Tomelty soon after.
In 1989, the couple founded the Rainforest Foundation, which supports indigenous rainforest peoples and help them protect their ancestral lands. Styler is also an ambassador for UNICEF. Styler and her husband Sting received the Peace Abbey Courage of Conscience Award.
