It's quirky and interesting but not smooth by any means. I've bored over time of his story telling. It can be good in parts but then boring as hell in others.
This 7th book reflected all of that. Some of the shorts I really enjoyed. Others I hated. Some like Glotka's story I wanted to see beyond where it ended. I found Shev and Javre's stories the best in this volume.
It will probably be awhile before I take on Shattered Sea. I need a break before I think I can enjoy his writing again. ...more

It was when others realized who he was that made it fun.
This was also the most consistent story of the three singles. Best Served Cold had a great first half and awful second while Heroes was the opposite. I liked this from start to finish. ...more

Great ending to a great series. The last 10% was cleanup but the 25% before that when everything converged into the ending was awesome. A lot of good surprises and I liked that a lot of the main characters were left in disarray. I'll definitely read the other books from this world. ...more

I started to wonder if these books would translate into a movie well. Some of Glotka and the other character's caustic thoughts have me roaring and it takes the sting out of some of the brutality. Putting together a list of actors to play all the parts would be a fun activity.
Definitely some good twists and I'm looking forward to book three. ...more
