That was... okay. A girl stumbled upon an unique shop that sells happy memories. But later the girl helped the shop owner realize that people not only need happy memories, because however nice it feels, it’s just temporary. Later they tried to change their selling tactic to stimulate the feeling of gratitude. It was nice, but nothing special....more

The illustration is in doodle-style, completed with real pictures of the memories the mother kept neatly in the basement. The narrative is laced with light humor, and it gave me a perspective about insurance which is kind of wild I think. Can’t believe there’s people benefitting from the future’s uncertainty just to pay them back in dust when the “worst” is actually happening.

- featuring my country, Indonesia!! with a pretty accurate situation too. and it doesn't just pick popular destination like Bali so it's a plus point for me - there's an Indonesian character (or at least diaspora) based on her name but sadly there's no scene about her "connection" with the country... - it's so dramatic and fun to read - the illustrations are gorgeous! - the competition itself not really made sense for me but that's fine it's fiction after all
not gonna add it to my favorite graphic novel list but it's still memorable for sure...more

The robotics team needed school funds to join a prestigious robotic competition but the cheerleader team has been eyeing that fund too so they could buy a new uniform to join a cheerleading competition. The only assured way to get that fund is to put someone in their favor to be the school body president. But the campaign quickly turned dirty.
I felt bad for Charlie for being dragged in the middle of the robotics-cheerleaders conflict. I love Holly’s character development, I thought she’s a bully but she’s kind of okay after all. Can’t wait for the next book (I assume there will be the next) ✨ ...more
The concept of magical book isn't something new of course, but this book still made me curious enough to see how that was good, but nothing's special.
The concept of magical book isn't something new of course, but this book still made me curious enough to see how it ends. half-sisters has been separated "for their own good": Joanna assigned to guard her family's library, not even allowed to have guest in her home sine their father's death. Esther has to constantly moved so she didn't end up like her deceased mother. but danger was approaching and they had to help each other out.
the pace was quite slow because of the occasional flashbacks. Nicholas's life kinda reminded me of The Inheritance Games setting bc of the massive house that brimming with mystery. The dog was adorable, The character dynamics was only so-so. I think I missed out the mystery behind the father's death or was it not explained?? IDK. it felt important o the plot so I ws confused why it's not talked enough. Oh and the climax final battle scene somehow felt... anticlimactic? But okay I guess...more

This book was as delightful as the first book, if not more. New characters introduced, while still having the notable characters from the first book. Emily & Wendell’s banter is simply the BEST. I felt like this book has loose Alice’s adventure in wonderland references, with the door business (especially the nexus) and following a creature through a strange realm. Loved it. I’ll be seated for the next book (I've known the title for a while thanks to the marketing associate who emailed the ARC reviewers)♥️

That was interesting, BUT.
I love the MC and other side characters, the interactions felt natural & not at all stiff. But the pace felt a bit slow for me… and the magic system didn’t really clear. What’s the magic? What’s the limitation? What’s the cost? I needed to knowww.
The slow burn was literally slow-burning and I'm here for that. The plot wasn’t too original but it’s still interesting enough to make me anticipate the next book♥️ ...more
