I'm happy to say that I wasn't disappointed with this story in the least. I really enjoyed Malcolm and Alice as characters, though they did remind me a bit of Lyra (fierce and feisty) and Will (steadfast and smart). But for me that wasn't a drawback. The only thing I couldn't really get behind (view spoiler)[ was the plotting for the second half of the book once the threesome are on the flood and weird, random things start happening to them. I'm just not a fan of those kinds of portal fantasy stories (think Alice in Wonderland and The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland). (hide spoiler)] Looking forward to the next installment!
