Have just been looking into this myself as we are getting solar soon.
From what I have read, net metering before 2022 the. Reddit builds up and is cashed out at the end of March every year.
The new program from 2022 on is a netting tariff which has two variants, one is for very large producers, so not residential. So the 1:1 credit shows up as a negative bill and is only cashed out when the property is sold.

Now I asked my solar installer and was told the netting tariff is paid out at the standard Eversource rate and if grid power is draw it’s charges at the 3rd party supplier rate if using say Constellation as a provider. Sounds to good to be true, if 3rd party rate is less than Eversource. Is this really true?
