Who hasn't tried Kotlin Multiplatform(KMP) yet? What's the reason?

IsuruKusumal
replied to gardell

Kmp platform abstractions are two folds

Yes - it does add in a layer of complexity (which you wouldn't otherwise need) to hide away any platform inconsistencies so that you - as a kotlin developer - need not care

No - it avoids the convoluted bloat by minimising the friction you'd typically get with a layer of abstraction.

How? Because it is you - the kotlin developer - who gets to manage your own abstraction the way you want. Unlike many other cross platform SDKs out there, where this abstraction is decided by committee, KMP empowers you with owning your abstractions.

My job got new microwaves and only allow certain foods in them.

Nothing screams like "we serve frozen food" more than seeing 6 microwave ovens stacked back-to-back

Want to become a freelance Android Dev, would a degree in marketing help?

Depends on your career goals

If your goal is to launch your own business, probably yes

If your goal is to develop apps to an existing business, probably no

No Internet For 7 Days And Nobody Will Call Back

Telstra support service is abysmal. Service agents can't really do anything apart from updating a case report and 'escalating' things to a 'back-end team' - which does absolutely nothing

A small library to get platform-specific app data and cache directory when working with KMP.

Avoid creating files at NSHomeDirectory ! Though it works on the simulator, is not suitable for physical devices as the security policies on physical devices do not permit read/write to this directory

I should warn you that on iOS, NSHomeDirectory only allowed to be written on iOS Simulators, but not on physical devices

Don't ask me how I know this 😪
