Original Galaxy Watch still going strong
6 years old now, battery is still hard to beat - 3 days usually. The bezel cover and stainless steel strap still look good. I have a Watch 6 but I gotta stay this Watch still wins hands down for looks and battery life. It also came with a proper charging dock unlike all the new models. Anyone else still rocking the original?
Tizen OS was so much better for efficiency than WearOS now
Totally agree.
Yet unfortunately given Apples dominent position, and locking out non-apple people from their watch market wise moving to WearOS was the right move.
Nice, I'm still using mine too. Got it in mid 2019, still working as well as it did then. Will be upgrading to a Garmin next month but will definitely be a bit sad to leave my trusty watch behind 😅
Mine is well too! Use it from time to time, alternating with GW6 classic.
Im gonna miss my mine when i finally retire it this coming week, ordered the watch 5 pro. this has been a fantastic watch for sure!
What made you go for the 5 pro over the 6? I'm in the same boat and might look upgrade in the next couple of weeks
For me, I picked 5 pro over the 6 because it has a significantly greater battery life/capacity, and is basically the same across the board hardware/software wise.
Edit: and the 5 pro has titanium body, sapphire screen. 6 is aluminum with glass screen. 5 pro is significantly more tougher.
the 6 base and classic are sapphire crystal, while the classic is stainless steel btw :)
Yup, you are correct, my bad. Screen aside though, the 5pro is head and shoulders a better device than the 6 base.
Did the same thing about 4 months ago, the 5 pro was the only watch that had comparable battery life for me to switch from the original
I had mine for years, but unfortunately the screen started to die on the top edge. Upgraded to the 6 Classic and it's pretty good as well
what was the effects of the screen dying, and what caused it?
The only thing that happened was the black mark grew larger and larger over time, but no wacky colors or lines. I don't know for sure what caused it, but if I had to make a guess it was from whacking a concrete barrier wall we had at work when making corners
damn guess i should be more careful with my 6 classic
I've had the six classic for a while now, and I gotta say, even with no screen protector it's holding up quite well. It's taken quite a beating with me, but only has a tiny scratch on the bezel. (But hey, that's what accidental extended warranty is for, right?)
Haha same here still rocking the og galaxy watch and the original galaxy gear with the camera such good watches with fire battery life not upgrading anytime soon
I use mine several times a week. Get more than 2 days of battery life. Sometimes over 3.
Recently traded mine in for the 6 classic because of the trade in deal Samsung had. It served me well for a long time and would have probably kept it had it not been for the Tizen situation.
For the charging dock, I just ordered a wireless charging hub that I sit my phone and watch in to charge. I used to have both phone and watch separately charging but much prefer it being all one hub.
You should have traded in any old smartwatch and kept your OG SW
The OG galaxy watch was my first and only one I had. There was a $100 trade in deal towards the 6 or 6 classic and I heard at some point the Tizen watches won't be supported anymore anyway.
That's amazing! Is your watch still using the original battery?
is that a dial sleeve/cover?
I often want to break mine back out. I miss the dial, I miss the gorgeous faces, I miss the rose gold... it was just so much better than all the others.
I found a pic of my watch. This thing was gorgeous.
I also still have mine. I've had to change out the bands a couple of times but the battery's still great and it does what I need it to do. Sometimes I look at the newer ones but I have yet to justify replacing my old GW1 that still works...
Also, as someone who used to constantly swap watch faces, I eventually settled on the same stock one OP is using. I guess the one thing that would tempt me to get a WearOS watch is better complications because I think that face is one of the only ones that has everything I need on Tizen.
I love that case! It's all my 5 pro has been in since it arrived
Still using mine despite all the sensors spontaneously dying suddenly some years ago. Switched off or uninstalled every non essential app that uses any of its sensors to keep it alive as a basic smartwatch. It still spazzes out once in a while, requiring me to disassemble it to disconnect the battery which seems to bring it back to life.
Still have mine.
I'm still wearing the Gear S2 Sport since 2016.
Few days ago after swimming in the pool, reboot loop started and now it is sleeping.
I started with LiveView and after that SmartWatch2 from Sony (Ericsson). After graduation and started to work treated myself with Galaxy Watch and now it is gone. Waiting for Watch 7 but gonna miss it.
I was planning to change last year but didn't want it because it was still working. Daily charging and slowly dying but still breathing. Now not able to open :( Wish atleast able to open and see main screen. (5,5 year old for me btw)
2019 galaxy 4 watch is one of the best
