You need a license and insurance, otherwise your drone and some of your money could end up with the police.
That would be hilarious. All the Russians would run for cover.
You need CAAT and NBTC registration in order to fly legally.
I went there in the morning (patong 6 am) to fly my drone: nobody seemed to care or be bothered about it since the noise level on that beach is already pretty high.
Occasionally people fly them on the beach. It's annoying AF to sit and listen to it when it happens. But I'm not pissy that they are doing anything 'illegal'.
But in saying that it is illegal to smoke weed on the beach and that annoys some people and I smoke weed on the beach so I live with the small annoyances of others too.
I'm sure you can take it and fly it no problem if it is a more quiet area or in the morning. If there's security or police presence around I wouldn't risk the trouble to much but you could also try say you didn't know and see if you get lucky.
