I've found the African American Visual Artists Database ID (P11271) contains many names of people who are not African American or of African descent. I've found several white artists in addition to Betsy Graves Reyneau (Q4898291), including Elizabeth Leigh-Taylor (Q114906810) (17625) and John James Audubon (Q182882) (2504), as well as many artists who are of African descent but not American and even some non-artists, so the name of the database is a bit of a misnomer. My thought is that we should leave the AAVAD ID statements but not infer the people documented by the database are African American or within the scope of WikiProject African diaspora (Q15304953) (focused on "cultural contributions of people of African descent"), but I welcome additional thoughts!

Thanks! Amusing to hear of the multiple directions in which AAVAD entries can be exemptions to the database's name :) I think I agree with leaving the AAVAD ID statements, but not inferring the people are African American. (The scope of the wikiproject is presumably something for wikiproject participants, and I'd certainly be happy either way.)

Hello! I've found Q108075491 that you created based on Q20948782; but isn'it the same person? I can't find any artist with this name other than the 17th century painter; the 18th century activity period is probably just an error in the Frick Reference Library.

Infopetal (talkcontribs)

I agree this is likely an error in the Frick Art Reference Library's data and have merged the two items into Q20948782. Thanks for pointing that out!

Hi, thanks for your edits! I was wondering why you put Delf Smith into the NYPL project category? I don't see a reference to it in his article, and none of the photos on Commons come from the NYPL that I know of. Does the NYPL have significant holdings of his works? ~~~~

Knowledge equity in linked open data

Hello Infopetal,

I am reaching out because you filled out a survey about the knowledge equity in linked open data project. I hadn't added the question asking for your email when the survey went out a little early by accident.

My name is Abbey Ripstra user:Snapdragon66 . I mostly contribute photos to Commons and have done some Wikipedia editing. I have made a few small contributions to Wikidata, too. Right now I am working on this project to learn more about how the product contribute to or create barriers to knowledge equity.

If you are still interested in participating in the KELOD project, would you please send me an email so we can correspond there? I would like to send you a note via email. If you rather not use email, I'll do my best her on your user talk page. My email is abbey.ripstra_ext@wikimedia.de

Thank you! Have a great day :)

S. L. Jones Q110111597 vs Q111598063

Could you review Shields Landon Jones (Q110111597) and S.L. Jones (Q111598063) , the latter was created by you and looks as it may be a conflation with the former. I was tempted to split due to the album being dated after the death of Q110111597 per publish dates of M00000382987 and not seeing any mention of music from the other entities, but wasn't sure which was in the Roger Brown Study Collection associated when created.

Thanks for pointing this out, @Wolfgang8741! I agree the item item I created for S.L. Jones (Q111598063) contained several statements that actually belonged to Shields Landon Jones (Q110111597) and have move those over. I believe the musician occupation and Muziekweb statements that were on Q111598063 describe SL Jones (Q16730415) so have merged the two items together. --Infopetal (talk) 12:36, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
