2010 eruption of Mount Merapi
Hi 220.101, I am not sure how to crop the picture once it is on the Commons but I have added one more satellite image to the article. Originalwana (talk) 12:30, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- Hello there Originalwana!
I imagine that the picture would have to be downloaded, cropped with a graphics program and uploaded to Commons again. See also this link: Edit this file using an external application from the Commons page. My concern was that the section of interest was very small compared to the overall size of the picture. - Keep your eyes open for a 'free-use' picture of the current eruption we can use, perhaps Flickr may have some?
- p.s. is that Mount Merbabu above Mount Merapi in the picture? - 220.101 talk\Contribs 14:15, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not sure, north is up in the picture so if Merbabu is north of Merapi then I suppose so. Originalwana (talk) 12:20, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
Merapi updates
Sorry about whinging about the Merapi eruption article - you're right I could update it myself. I was just trying to highlight that I thought it wasn't getting the attention it deserved but perhaps I have no right do to this if I too can't give it the attention I think it deserves! Cheers mate djambalawa (talk) 02:28, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- Whinging is a basic human right (so far!). The article was eventually linked to "current events" on the front page, for about a week I think? (which is quite long!). It has also been updated very regularly since, which some actually object to as "WP is an Encyclopedia, Not a Newspaper" (see Recentism - Some updates I did to Borobudur got reverted! by editor Merbabu!. Merbabu is also a mountain peak very near Merapi! See preceding post above ↑.)
• Wikinews probably needs to be updated more often too! I think they had ONE article on the eruptions.
• As you say, if this was happening in North America or Europe it would very likely "be getting bombarded by updates", but also its' effects would likely be felt much more worldwide. In Australia it got a lot of media coverage when it kept erupting. Actually from the page view stats, not as many readers as I thought would be are interested! Mount Merapi got a lot more views (stats) than 2010 eruptions of Mount Merapi. (stats) by up to 800%! Regards, - 220.101 talk\Contribs 03:35, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
Friendly FYI
Hello!
Just so you know, we shouldn't be {{subst:}} the template {{refimprove}}, as you did here, here, here, and here. This actually caused the page to show up in Category:Pages with incorrectly substituted templates. The standard listing of what can and should be substituted is at Wikipedia:Substitution. :) Keep up the positive contributions! Avicennasis @ 07:03, 8 Kislev 5771 / 15 November 2010 (UTC)
- Whoopsie! I think you have FYI'd me about this before! I try to remember, I even leave reminders to self in my edit summaries! ie." {{refimprove|{{subst:DATE}}}} n.b. Don't subst: !", as I often copy/paste templates from my contribs page. nb. I did 'it' at Ijen and Yogyakarta (city) too! It was late (UTC+11)! nb.Try

Hi HJ. Can you e-mail my 'address' to User:Sonia? She would like to contact me. Let me know if you'd rather not for any reason. Thanks! ps Until very recently I also lacked Job and Money! - 220.101 talk\Contribs 16:21, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
- I'll have to check if I've still got it, I cleaned my inbox out the other week. If not, have you still got mine? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:34, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- I believe that I still do! Nice to hear from you, it's been a while, and both TWOFR and Sonia are on wiki-breaks. Miss them! I too have been less active due to Real Life! I'll send you a message if you have deleted(!) my address. :-) - 220.101 talk\Contribs 16:03, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- It appears I have. Email me and I'll forward your email address to
XXXhotbabes.comSonia. ;) You mean TFOWR? I haven't seen him in ages. I might drop him an email just see how he is. Y'know, if you registered, you'd be able to email other Wikipedians without the faff. And I can give you enough extra buttons to make your editing life much easier (imagine that, no CAPTCHA, editing semi-protected articles...) - It's up to me to if/when I wish to 'register', but how are you going to e-mail me? Don't know if I like 220.101, it is just part of my IP address. (actually 28.25 is more 'personal'!) - Hm, your right, I don't have your email. I am sure HJ or sonia has it. (not that they would give it to me without your permission). Anyway, I have removed the code that tells Mizabot to archive. - Facepalm It appears I selected the wrong talk page, I meant to send a message to 121.223.152.70 (talk · contribs). They edited just before you 121.219.119.188, adding the information about Gus Mercurios death without a reference, (diff) which is required for "potentially controversial" information about a person, such as their death, per wp:BLP. False information about a person dying is frequently added to biographical articles.
- It seems I simply was misled by the similarity of your IPs (both starting with "121") and mistakenly clicked on your talk page!

Did you follow a link from a different website? Sometimes, it is necessary to change page names. As a result, links from external sites leading here can become broken. Luckily, there is a permalink feature to avoid this. On all regular pages, there is a link titled Permanent link in the toolbox on the left. If you came from an external site, please notify the webmaster of that site and ask them to use permalinks in the future. Not only does the link remain intact, but the page content remains at precisely the version when the link was added.

Cow Milk Moral or Sin ? by Naresh Sonee writer of Brahmand Pujan
http://vegetarians-cows.blogspot.com/2008/01/drinking-milk-moral-or-sin.html
APPEAL TO YOU - RESCUE [BRAHMAN PUJAN] , [UNIVERSAL PRAYERS] . written by [Naresh Sonee] On wikipedia , These above two pages are far older than the present article [Brahman] References of above titles are also available on New York site - http://www.printsasia.com/BookDetails.aspx?Id=445813482 Meanwhile, Can your good selves in Wiki Project Indian Community re-create a precise pages on [Naresh Sonee] & his book [Brahmand Pujan] – [Brahmaand Pujan] . However, Sonee is the writer of this book [Brahmand Pujan] written in 1999 . registered with Government of India- HRRD. Details of the registration is provided here on http://brhmaandpujanbook.tripod.com/ . More than sufficient, news and reviews are there on http://brhmaandpujan-news-reviews.tripod.com/ Since 5-6 yrs, for one or the other reason pages of [Naresh Sonee] & [Brahmand Pujan] are faced by communal bias from outside India so these articles over and again get deleted here in Wikipedia for minor reasons. However, many hits of - Naresh Sonee reflects on google search engine also. So, I request Wiki Indian community to kindly come forward and generously help these two pages to grow, as I am fed up to fight my case alone here [left] and moved out long back. Meanwhile, such an important info/issue on ‘Indian literature’ which adds & spell ‘new meaning /dimension’ to Brahman -should it stay lost else ignored? Your community panel has to judge at last. Myself, will not be on Wikipedia, for the same i apologise, but- pls. help these two pages to get reinstalled, reap, sow and grow, if you too feel so, I appeal to do this munificent favour. Regards- Dralansun (talk)
