Awaiba Mapu is a 2022 Manipuri film written and produced by Ranjit Ningthouja and directed by Khoibam Homeshwori, under the banner of Home Films Manipur.[1] It stars Bonium Thokchom and Sonia Samjetsabam in the lead roles. The film was released at Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS), Palace Compound, Imphal on 3 July 2022.[2] Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) certified the film in 2021 but was released in 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[3]
Plot
[edit]Ibothoi is employed by Ichaton's father as his driver, seeing his honest nature. The latter even gives assent to Ibothoi to be his son-in-law and inherit his property. This is in sharp contrast to Ichaton who is in love with Diamond. Ibothoi and Ichaton gets married but he is ill-treated by his wife. He tries all means to hide this in front of his in-laws. But when all the courage is lost, Ibothoi leaves their house. Meanwhile, Diamond turns out to be an ill-mannered guy. Ichathoi realises the true nature of Ibothoi and starts searching for him.

Soundtrack
[edit]Sorri Senjam composed the soundtrack for the film and Romi Meitei wrote the lyrics. The song is titled Wakhalgee.[5] The video of the song in the film is directed by Ajit Ningthouja. Pushparani Huidrom sung the female version of the song.[6]
